The Berserk Chapter 371 release date in the upcoming Young Animal Issue 24, 2022 will reportedly be on December 9, 2022.
Reliable and avid Young Animal manga reader MangaMoguraRE revealed this announcement ahead of time by reading the magazine in its original Japanese language. This info was confirmed when the Berserk Chapter 370 release date came.
Similarly, at the end of the latest Berserk Chapter 369, it was revealed at the end that Berserk Chapter 370 would be released on October 14, 2022. Berserk Chapter 370 was the final chapter of the Fantasia Arc that shifted the story to Elf Island starting with Berserk Chapter 308.
MangaMoguraRE has apparently already read Berserk 370 and saw the announcement at the end of the chapter for when Berserk 371 will be released.
Chapters 368 and 369 will be explained, but the events that take place in Berserk Chapter 371 will be predicted, so keep reading!
Berserk Chapters 368 and 369 explained
Berserk Chapter 368 teased, “The peaceful island is turned on its head as Griffith takes the stage. Giving in to anger, Guts swings the Dragon Slayer, but the blade won’t strike true. Is there a way to stem the flood of darkness?”
Isidro and his companions start to freak out as black, liquid-like beings begin to creep over the elven island. Skull Knight appears and explains that the beings have risen from the rift, presumably due to Griffith’s command. Skull Knight goes on to explain the creatures are the very foundations of the island and its original masters.
Meanwhile, Captain Roderick and his crew prepare to leave the island as the mermaids warn that a calamity is coming. Some of Roderick’s men remain stubborn and want to stay behind. All of a sudden the black spirits descend on some of Roderick’s men and suck the meat right off their bones, leaving them skeletons.
Guts watches as Griffith departs with the unconscious Casca in his arms, carried away by Zodd in flight. Berserk Chapter 369 opens with Guts lamenting that not even a single swing of his sword reached his arch-nemesis Griffith.
Future Berserk arc will focus on Guts gaining new power
It’s interesting to note that Guts is not thinking about Casca in this moment, but is more worried about how the gap in power between him and Griffith doesn’t seem to have narrowed. Instead, it’s the same vast difference as was seen during the Eclipse.
Guts is apparently back to square one and he feels powerless. Something must be done about this if he is going to go after Griffith in order to save Casca.
Although, it’s about more than just saving Casca this time. I think that Guts not thinking about Casca in this moment shows that he believes in Casca to some extent. She’s not the damsel in distress that Griffith is mistaking her for. Sure, she fainted due to the shock of seeing Griffith again, but Casca is a warrior, and he may have just taken a sleeping tiger and not a sleeping kitten into his home.
I believe Casca will be able to take care of herself while in Griffith’s clutches and may even manage to do some harm to his allies and army while she is right in the heart of his operations. Casca deciding to kill the princess in order to get revenge against Griffith is definitely a possibility.
As for Guts, even though he has his special armor and sword, it’s still not enough to defeat Griffith. Guts is going to have to find a way to fight against Griffith on equal footing. But how can he do this? Certain events have hinted that the only way for Guts to fight on par with Griffith will be if he obtains an “egg of the king” and becomes an Apostle himself.
If Guts decides to become an Apostle he will be giving up his humanity and the possibility of a future with Casca, all for the goal of defeating Griffith. With the way Guts is currently acting, I believe this to be a possibility.
Towards the end of Berserk Chapter 369 the island is destroyed and the elves begin to disappear. Presumably, the elves can no longer exist on the “physical plane” and will move to a “spiritual plane” where Guts, Isidro, and the others will no longer be able to interact with their new friends. Isidro is forced to say “goodbye” to his new friend Isma.
I also believe certain events have been leading up to Guts becoming an Apostle for a while, such as Guts losing his eye and arm. Griffith also had his body destroyed due to torture and the only way to restore it was to become something more than human – an Apostle. For Guts to regain his eye and arm, he too will have to become something more than human.
However, if Guts decides to become an Apostle in order to defeat Griffith/Femto this would mean he would become a subordinate of the God Hand. Guts would have to play along with their desires and defeat Griffith before he could then betray the God Hand. Another thing to keep in mind is that Griffith had to sacrifice all his “dear friends” in order to become an Apostle. This would mean Guts would have to do the same! I’m suddenly extremely worried about Isidro, Puck, Casca, Schierke, and the others!
Guts’ transformation into an Apostle would also allow him to bring out the Berserk armor’s full potential – the physical damage the armor causes him would be negated by the extreme healing and regeneration abilities of an Apostle.
