With Berserk coming back, the manga is scheduled to return with new chapters made by Kentaro Miura’s good friend, Kouji Mori, and the beloved mangaka’s assistants in Studio Gaga. To further celebrate, it appears that the Berserk anime will also return in 2022.

The narrative of Guts and the Band of the Hawk has been recounted several times before. Fans are curious to know which iteration of the dark anime epic will be making a comeback, as well as the information concerning this new “Memorial Edition” of the series.

The return of Berserk TV anime

Berserk’s upcoming return released a new trailer for its broadcast on Japanese television later this year. The three movies created by Studio 4C will serve as this return’s primary focus.

This broadcast will help celebrate the return of the manga that will continue the path of Guts and his friends within Kentaro Miura’s dark world. Check out the trailer below:

Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 1 – The Egg of the King, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 2 – The Battle for Doldrey, and Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 3 – The Advent were the first three films in the Berserk film series to be released in theaters in 2012. The first two films arrived that year, and the trilogy’s final film came in 2013.

Studio 4C used a mix of traditional two-dimensional animation and 3-D to help retell the story of the Golden Age Arc. It helps retell the early years of Guts and his travels with the Band of the Hawk. It was also the centerpiece of the first Berserk anime series released in the 1990s. Griffith later helped take things on a much darker path.

Berserk manga serialization

Berserk, which was first serialized in 1989, has significantly impacted the worlds of anime and manga. It is one of the best-selling mangas of all time, with over 50 million copies in print worldwide. It distinguished itself from other fantasy manga by employing a European-style medieval backdrop and employing outstanding artwork. Berserk was also well-known for its unabashed use of violent violence. Critics praised this as a vital feature of its action-packed and frequently heartbreaking tale.

Six more chapters are slated for the current “Fantasia Arc/Elf Island” story arc. Afterward, the plot will proceed with an entirely new arc, the details of which remain unknown. Berserk will continue to be penned by Miura’s friend and fellow manga author Kouji Mori (Holyland, Jisatsutou) and illustrated by members of Miura’s manga company, Studio Gaga. The next installment of Guts’ story, Chapter 365, will be published on June 24, 2022, in Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine.

As of yet, no plans have been revealed for a new anime series or movies that will return viewers to the world of the Band of the Hawk. There is undoubtedly plenty of material yet to be incorporated into the medium of animation. Though Kentaro Miura has passed away, it’s apparent that Mori and Studio Gaga want to honor him by completing the story of Berserk.
