Blue Orchestra anime release date in Spring 2023 – Special promotional video features Star Wars theme music

On August 8, 2022, it was announced that the Blue Orchestra release date will be in April 2023, the Spring 2023 anime season. The Blue Orchestra TV show will premiere on NHK Education TV in Japan.

The Japanese web manga series Blue Orchestra is written and illustrated by Makoto Akui.

When I discovered my manga would receive an anime adaptation I grew very excited! I hope the anime will give viewers the experience of going to a classical music concert!

Blue Orchestra is a coming-of-age story, which centers on the main character, Aono Hajime, who has become jaded by the orchestra world but is still drawn into it as he grows closer to one girl in particular. Their dramatic story will be told musically in such a way that is sure to tug at our viewers heartstrings. The anime will have a special message for teenagers to work hard, strive towards their goals, and to have the courage to rise above their failures.

On May 4, 2022, a promotional video featuring the Stars War musical theme “The Imperial March” composed by John Williams and including illustrations from the manga was released on Deutsche Grammohon’s official YouTube channel to celebrate Star Wars Day and William’s 90th Birthday.

What is the plot of Blue Orchestra?

The story centers on a prodigy violinist named Aono Hajime, who stopped playing the violin after he grew jaded due to his father abandoning his family. Hajime’s father was also a violinist and had greatly inspired him, so his father’s betrayal was disheartening.

In his third year of middle school, Hajime struggles to decide his academic path now that music is now longer his life’s goal. One day, he encounters a hotheaded, novice violinist, Akine Ritsuko, whose goal is to enroll in a high school that has a distinguished orchestra club.

Hajime develops a relationship with Ritsuko and decides to teach her how to play the violin better. As he’s drawn back into the world of violinists and musical competitions he’s forced to face the music and finally feels as though his life is moving forward again. Music and teenage hearts will resonate in this youthful drama story as Hajime and Ritsuko make harmonious music together and slowly fall in love.

Where can I read the manga?

On April 25, 2017, Blue Orchestra began its serialization on Shogakukan’s online platform mangaONE and a week later began serialization on Ura Sunday. Shogakukan has collected the manga’s chapters into 10 tankobon volumes.
