On September 8, 2022, the staff for the anime adaptation of Kotoyama’s Call of the Night (Yofukashi no Uta) manga released a trailer teasing a climatic occurrence in the upcoming 11th episode.

You can watch the trailer on Fuji Animation Studio’s official YouTube channel here:

The trailer highlights some of the best moments shared between Kou and Nazuna as he tries to fall in love with her in order to become a vampire. At the very end, a mysterious woman appears and she lights up a cigarette before taking a drag. She reveals to Kou that she is a detective named Anko Uguisu, who has been searching for Akihito Akiyama’s whereabouts and then she mentions “vampires” to Kou. Anko says, “You don’t know anything about vampires.”

For those who need a refresher, Akihito Akiyama is the man whom Kou saved from Seri, but who later asked Seri to become a vampire after they got over their misunderstanding and finally were able to understand each other’s feelings. Kou often called him “Draggo” or “Menhera-san” in the anime. Theoretically, he has now become Seri’s new vampire underling.

Voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro will play Anko Uguisu.

Anko Uguisu’s character design has been revealed and can be seen here:

Anko Uguisu…red bean paste. Obviously, I knew that wasn’t her real name. I skimmed through the script while wondering, “What are you true feelings? What are you really after?” I held my breath like Anko Uguisu holds her breath as she tries to be a detective in front of Yamori, but who is the one acting like a real detective?

Will Kou be able to resist the allure of becoming a Night Walker?

The story centers on a young man named Kou Yamori, who is unable to find true satisfaction in his daily life and has trouble sleeping. Due to the fact he’s become an insomniac, he wanders the streets at night and ends up encountering a beautiful girl named Nazuna Nanakusa, who has an air of danger and mystery about her.

Unfortunately, she’s more dangerous than Kou thought — he’ll soon discover that she’s actually a vampire. As time passes, and Nazuna shows Kou the joys of being a Night Walker, his views on vampires begin to change to the point that he wants to become one. But, in order to become a vampire, he’ll have to fall in love with Nazuna first.
