Crunchyroll has reportedly fired dub voice actress Anna Lauzeray-Gishi for participating in fandubbing the trailer for the upcoming anime Chainsaw Man by Studio MAPPA that is set to premiere in October 2022. This was a French-language fandub of the full trailer.

Lauzeray-Gishi is French voice actress known for her role as Kikyou Kushida in the French dub of the Classroom of the Elite anime.

A short teaser trailer for Chainsaw Man in French was released by Crunchyroll on August 5, 2022, and can be watched here:

What’s unfortunate is that Anna had allegedly voiced Makima in the full Chainsaw Man anime trailer, which simply wasn’t released by Crunchyroll France yet. Because Anna decided to participate in a fandub trailer for French fans, who were eager to see the full trailer in French, she has lost her role as Makima in the upcoming Chainsaw Man French dub.

“After a call from Crunchyroll, which informed me that I could let my fans know what has happened, I am able to announce that I will no longer play Kikyou Kushia in Classroom of the Elite. The reason Crunchyroll gave me was because of my fandub for the Chainsaw Man anime trailer. If they had asked me to remove the fandub I would have but this option was not given to me. I am surprised for being fired for an amateur dubbing since I started off with fandubbing. Fandubbing is one of the best ways for upcoming voice actors and actresses to show what they’re worth, and many fandubbers have become professional dubbing actors based on their fandub work. I have no hard feelings for whoever will play Kikyou Kushida after me and wish her all the best. I would like to ask my fans not to insult or harass her in any way.”
