What is the plot of Dandadan?

The story begins when high school student Momo Ayase breaks up with her boyfriend when she realizes he was just after her money and her body. The only reason she was dating him in the first place was that he resembled her favorite actor Takakura Ken. Momo has a thing for guys who are stern and stoic like the actor Takakura Ken, who says things like his signature line, “I am an awkward man”.

One day, Momo has a fleeting interest in a paranormal magazine a nerd in her class is reading and asks him about it. She gets distracted and leaves him alone, but the nerd whose name happens to be Takakura Ken follows after her. Takakura declares that the only reason Momo could be talking to him is that she has an interest in the paranormal, but boldly declares that ghosts aren’t real – only UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena).

Takakura’s statement strikes a chord in Momo and instantly angers her because her grandmother is a medium. Momo’s grandmother raised her and because of this, she trusts in her grandmother’s ability to see ghosts. Momo instantly says that Takakura is mistaken, ghosts are real, and when people get possessed they go berserk. Takakura swiftly counters that could be caused by a medical condition.

Momo challenges Takakura to a bet – if he sees a ghost he’ll become Momo’s errand boy. Takakura counters that if she sees a UAP then she’ll become his errand girl. Takakura has Momo go to Nagi Hospital, which is said to be an alien hot spot. Apparently, if you summon an alien from the roof you’ll get abducted there.

Momo has Takakura head over to a haunted tunnel and over the phone tells him to belt out certain song lyrics in order to lure the ghost. Takakura ends up encountering a perverted ghost known as “Turbo Granny” that has a little too much interest in Takakura’s lower body. Momo warns Takakura that if he can’t outrun her he’ll be cursed.

At the same time that’s happening, Momo encounters three aliens known as Serpoians, who decide to abduct Momo and take her to their ship. They strip Momo down to her underwear and strap her to a chair. The aliens attack Momo’s mind with their psychokinesis in order to put her into an aroused state. Just when the aliens are about to start doing lewd experiments on her, she receives a phone call from Okarun (Takakura Ken, Occult-kun).

Okarun was unable to outrun the Turbo Granny and became possessed by her. Gaining a demonic appearance and superhuman speed, Okarun comes out of the cell phone and begins to battle against the aliens. When the aliens decide to attack Momo psychically again they end up overstimulating her brain and unintentionally cause her chakras to open.

With Momo’s newly awakened psychic powers she is able to defeat the aliens and exorcise the Turbo Granny from Okarun’s body. However, the Turbo Granny took an important “souvenir” from Okarun and they’ll have to go back to the haunted tunnel in order to get it back.

What will happen when Okarun tells Momo, “I’m an awkward man”, and she discovers he also has the same name as her celebrity crush?
