On July 24, 2022, Days with My Stepsister (Gimai Seikatsu)’s official twitter account released a new key visual by illustrator Hiten in commemoration of the light novel series getting an anime adaptation!

From the trailer we can deduce that the story is about a high school boy and girl whose parents remarry and they become stepsibling. The anime will focus on the day-to-day life of the stepsiblings as they get to know each other and start to develop romantic feelings.

The trailer teases different days they spend together with titles: The beginning of a new family, sign a contract, get to know him, get to know her, to understand, the past and emotions.

Because his mother’s affair resulted in his parents getting divorced, Yuta is initially distrustful towards women, including his new stepsister Saki, but overtime he gradually begins to trust her and opens up to her.

Days with My Stepsister began as a YouTube manga

In April 2020, a YouTube channel was created for the project, and on May 1, 2020 its first video was uploaded. According to Animate Times while Ghost Mikawa was writing several other works one of his readers requested a piece that “deeply dug into the daily life of the characters”. This request inspired him to write a story depicting the relationship between step-siblings.

You can watch Episode 1 of Gimai Seikatsu’s animated manga with English subtitles on Gimai Seikatsu’s official YouTube channel here:

In July 2021, a manga adaptation by Yumika Kanade began serialization online in Kadokawa Shoten’s Shonen Ace Plus.
