On July 22, 2022, the staff for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (Kido Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo) released a new trailer giving a sneak peek at the red-haired heroine, Suletta Mercury, the Gundam she will control, an enemy Gundam she’ll have to fight, and other interesting supporting characters. The trailer teases, “This witch…rides a Gundam.”

The Witch From Mercury will be the first brand-new TV mecha anime series in the Gundam franchise since Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is set to premiere in October 2022 in Japan during the Nichi-5 slot on MBS/TBS TV channels (Sundays at 5:00 P.M. JST). Outside of Japan, the anime has a simulcast planned for October 2022.

What is the plot of The Witch From Mercury?

The story is set during the era, A.S. (Ad Stella) 122, when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. The story centers on a young girl named Suletta Mercury, who is from the remote planet Mercury.

Suletta decides to transfer to the Asticassia School of Technology, which is run by the Beneritt Group that dominates the mobile suit industry. Suletta’s pure heart blazes with a scarlet light as she enters a new, adventurous world filled with advanced technology, Gundams, and dangerous enemies.

On July 14, 2022, at the Gundam Factory Yokohama (the site of the life-size moving Gundam statue in Japan), the life-size Gundam Unicorn statue in Tokyo’s Odaiba, the life-size Freedom Gundam statue in Shanghai, the life-size RX-93ffv Gundam statue in Fukuoka, and the upcoming Gundam Base Virtual World in Bandai Namco Group’s planned Gundam Metaverse project, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Prologue debuted.

On July 21, 2022, the prologue was screened in the U.S. at the Comic Con International: San Diego in California.

  • Kana Ichinose plays Suletta Mercury – a second-year student in the piloting department, who transferred to the school from Mercury. She is shy and bad a communicating with others. Despite this, she is the pilot of the Gundam Aerial that was developed on Mercury.
  • Lynn plays Miorine Rembran – a beautiful, smart second-year student in the management strategy department. Miorine is the only daughter of Delling Rembran, the president of the Beneritt Group and chairman of the school’s board. However, she doesn’t get along with her father.
