Japanese pop culture, artistic creativity, and Italian sartorial excellence converge in the new Dolce & Gabbana X Jujutsu Kaisen Special Collection. This collaboration was inspired by the paranormal world of Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the most popular Japanese manga/anime series.
The collection mixes DG flair with the unique art style of anime and Japanese street aesthetics, as seen in the vibrant and modern districts of Tokyo – Shibuya and Harajuku (an anime otaku’s paradise).
Jujutsu Kaisen anime director Sunghoo Park’s edgy illustrations of the characters gave them strong, recognizable identities that are translated into distinctive garments and accessories within the collection. The cotton and jersey T-shirts, sweatshirts, and nylon jackets that are personalized with screen-printing, digital 3D prints, and Japanese ideograms offer a contemporary appeal.
If you’re lucky enough to live in Japan make sure you stop by the ZeroBase Shibuya pop-up store where you get to enter the world of Dolce & Gabbana X Jujutsu Kaisen in an immersive experience that allows clients to discover the uniqueness of the collection and view a special original illustration by Sunghoo Park that is on display.
The release of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie made history when it broke box office records in Japan and Taiwan. It even broke US movie box office records as the 4th highest-grossing anime movie of all time. It was released theatrically in Japan in December 2021, in the US in March 2022, and was released in other regions throughout 2022.
In Japan, Jujutsu Kaisen has had multiple collaborations with brands ranging from spectacles to snacks and a UT collection with Uniqlo, which I will talk about towards the end of this article for those interested. Now, Jujutsu Kaisen, as proof of how large its franchise has grown, is getting its first-ever high-fashion collaboration with Italian luxury fashion house, Dolce & Gabbana.
Jujutsu Kaisen is following in the footsteps of other mainstream anime titles that have also carved a space in the high fashion industry, such as: Maje X Sailor Moon (launched April 26, 2022), Vans X JoJo (now available 2022), Sandy Liang X Vans, Uniqlo UT X Mobile Suit Gundam (Finaly Fantasy collection launches May 16, 2022), Loewe X Studio Ghibli, Gucci X Doraemon, Gucci X One Piece, Longchamp X Pokemon, Coach X Michael B Jordan X Naruto, Jordan X Zion X Naruto sneakers (now available 2022), and Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure X Balcenciaga.

The Jujutsu Kaisen clothing mirror the character’s personalities and backstories
The collection features its main characters from season one, the hero Yuji Itadori, and his fellow first-year classmates and best friends – Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki.
Second-year students Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki and Panda are also featured alongside teachers Kento Nanami and Satoru Gojo – “the strongest sorcerer in town”.
Each of these characters sports tailored outfits that mirror their unique personalities and highlight their complex backstories. For example, Yuji is modeling a black and white tracksuit that has a pattern, which resembles Sukuna’s markings.
Tomboy Nobara Kugisaki is modeling a black mini skirt, black hoodie with DG monogram in red, and a red and green rose pattern that adds just a touch of femininity. The black, lace ankle boots also have a flower pattern. This outfit immediately makes you think of the expression: “Every rose has its thorns,” which was made famous by the band Poison in 1988. Nobara Kugisaki may be a pretty, young girl but she definitely has her thorns!
Megumi Fushiguro is modeling a black, leopard print jacket with matching pants, a red, purple, and black T-shirt, and red, purple, and black sneakers. The T-shirt and the shoes feature the Tokyo Jujutsu High School crest.
In the anime, Megumi uses Cursed Techniques in battle. His primary ability is the Ten Shadows Technique which allows him to summon friendly, cursed spirits that will fight against his enemies. These “shikigami” take the form of animals, including Divine Dogs, Nue (an electric bird-like creature), a toad, a max elephant, and a great serpent. The subtle leopard print is perfect for this “spiritual beast master”.
Kento Nanami, a former nine-to-five salaryman, is frequently wearing a suit in the manga and anime. Dolce & Gabbana decided to kick his style up a notch. He’s modeling a neutral, double-breasted overcoat worn over a sky-blue long-sleeved turtleneck. Dolce & Gabbana also designed a classy, nature-themed brooch to go with the snazzy ensemble.
For the sophisticated anime fashionista may I suggest Maki Zen’in’s smart look. She’s modeling a white, long-sleeved shirt sporting bejeweled buttons, black pants, a black leather belt with the DG logo, decorated with rhinestones and pearls, and black, patent leather ankle boots, the toes of which are decorated with fusible rhinestones.
Fans of Panda rejoice. Dolce & Gabbana has designed an adorable Panda backpack!
Panda is modeling the backpack along with a bucket hat, which features the Tokyo Jujutsu High School crest.
For the male anime otaku who want to look as cool as Satoru Gojo, you’re in luck. Satoru Gojo is modeling a black leather jacket with a large DG logo, white T-shirt, and mixed material space sneakers that look like they’re right out of a cyberpunk movie (Bladerunner, perhaps?).
The black blindfold that Satoru Gojo is usually seen wearing in the anime has been perfectly transformed into a pair of boxy, visor sunglasses. The transformation is so accurate it reminds me of the movie Cool World where a comic book girl enters the “real world” and becomes human.
Make sure to check out all of the other available products in the collection, such as hoodies, track pants, graphic T-shirts, shopping bags, cardholders, and even phone cases.
The Dolce & Gabbana X Jujutsu Kaisen Special Collection was made available at the end of April 2022, which means you’re able to peruse the collection immediately at their official website.
Uniqlo UT has a variety of anime collaborations
For those of you who want to rock Jujutsu Kaisen style without breaking the bank, the Uniqlo UT X Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Collection is worth checking out! There is an entire line of T-shirts inspired by the movie. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is an original story of the JJK universe about love and a curse. Yuta Okkotsu is a high school student, who is possessed and troubled by the curse of Rika Orimoto – his childhood friend who died in a traffic accident. Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High School, wants Yuta to enroll so that he can learn cursed techniques and exorcise curses.
My top pick is the black T-shirt, which features “the curse”. The curse takes the form of a powerful monster (Rika) that pops up and attacks enemies whenever Yuta gets upset or is in danger. Yuta doesn’t want to hurt anyone, however, and even contemplates submitting to execution in order to rid the world of the monster, but the blindfolded teacher Gojo tells him there is another way.
My second pick is a T-shirt featuring Satoru Gojo.
A message from UT, “UT is a celebration of pop culture from around the world. Iconic classics and fan favorites alike are reintroduced in this exclusive collection of original artwork. From the realms of art, music, film and more, there’s something to enable everyone to express who they are, and how to wear and share what they love.”
Remember to keep an eye out for the upcoming Uniqlo UT X Final Fantasy collaboration! We’ll have more information about that collaboration on Anime Geek soon!
