What happened in Made In Abyss Season 2 Episode 9 to inspire the new ending song?
In Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun Episode 9 Faputa escorts Reg back to the village and reminds him of his promise to use his incinerator to destroy the shield guarding the village’s entrance, which will allow her to enter. Reg reunites with Riko and reveals Faputa gave him one of her ears so that they can get Nanachi back from Belaf. Wazukyan arrives and congratulates Reg and Riko, but asks Riko if she hates him now that she knows his story.
Riko surprises Wazukyan by saying she’s figured out what he and the villagers are really after – a way to leave the village so they can continue their journey deeper into the Abyss. Riko also states that she and everyone in the village are a lot alike. Riko also reveals she knows that Wazukyan wants her to use a Cradle of Desire to wish for a way for the villagers to regain their bodies and gain the ability to leave the village.
Reg wants to take Faputa’s body part to Belaf quickly since Faputa’s blood is drawing monsters to them, however, Reg is warned that if Belaf sees one of Faputa’s body parts he might break. While they’re debating their next course of action the village’s guardian, Juroimoh, appears and attacks Reg with the intention of retrieving Faputa’s ear. Reg is forced to fight Juroimoh and Wazukyan whisks Vueko away.
When Reg starts to hesitate about giving up the ear, Vueko yells out that it won’t stop Juroimoh. Reg decides he has no choice but to use his Incinerator, and uses it to incapacitate Juroimoh. The attack blasts a hole in the village barrier and Faputa enters the village. Faputa immediately tells the villagers that she is about to unleash all of her mother’s anger on them for their crime of eating her children and that with their deaths her mother will be avenged.
Meanwhile, Nanachi awakens from a dream Belaf had been sharing with her of his time following in Wazukyan’s footsteps. Belaf informs Nanachi that Faputa has arrived and that “it’s time”.
A new ending theme song was revealed titled “Belaf’s Lullaby” by Kevin Penkin. The song really tugged at the viewer’s heartstrings and Made in Abyss fans immediately wanted to know more about this song.
