In his childhood, he befriended Aki Adagaki, but when he decided to confess his love for her he was brutally rejected when she called him “Piggy”. Afterwards, Masamune decided to go on a diet and train order to get revenge on Aki.

Comments by Natsuki Hanae regarding Season 2

It’s been a long time since the first season was broadcast, so when I heard that a season 2 was green-lit I was surprised and happy. I enjoyed playing Masamune Makabe and look forward to doing so again. The original manga is also complete so I’m looking forward to seeing how far the anime will take the story. I find it very rewarding to play Masamune and I will do my best to bring out his charm in Season 2. I want to thank the fans for their patience.

Aki Adagaki is a high school girl, who grew up in a wealthy family, and is known for her brutal treatment of the boys, who confess to her, since she gives them cruel nicknames after rejecting them. As a result, she’s gained the nickname “Cruel Princess” from her classmates. She allegedly rejected Masamune and gave him the nickname “Piggy” when the two were children spurring his desire to change himself and get revenge on her.

When Masamune confronts Aki about the nickname she gave him in the past, she declares she never called him “Piggy”. Once Aki realizes that Masamune is the same boy from her past she tries to make him cute and chubby again.

Comments by Ayaka Ohashi regarding Season 2

I was always hoping that Masamune-kun’s Revenge would continue someday and was happy to learn that after 5 years that will become a reality. The announcement for the second season was made on April Fool’s Day, which made fans nervous, but it’s really happening. The manga has been completed so we all know the ending, and how Aihime’s feelings for Masamune will change over time. I will do my best to express the way her feelings change. I am excited to reunite with the staff and cast. I sang the opening theme song “Wagamama MIRROR HEART” last season and hope to be a part of something that special again. I enjoyed singing that song during festivals. I’m excited to see what the story of Season 2 will be.

Yoshino Koiwai (played by Inori Minase)’s profile

Yoshino is Aki’s maid and follower. She appears to be a shy, clumsy girl, but beneath that cute exterior she’s calculating and deceptive.

Unlike Aki, Yoshino easily gains weight from sweets. Later, it is revealed that Yoshino had disguised herself as Aki eight years before, rejected Masamune, and gave him the nickname “Piggy” due to jealousy towards Aki’s affection for him.

Comments by Inori Minase regarding Season 2

When I saw the Tweet featuring Aki and Yoshino on April Fool’s Day I had the feeling that a second season was really coming soon and became overjoyed by the news. There is a lot more to Yoshino that fans don’t know about yet and I’m excited to portray her in Season 2. I missed getting to say the nicknames “Aihime-sama” and “Piggy” all the time and am looking forward to getting to again. It’s an anime about love and its obstacles as human beings. Season 2 has been made possible due to our fans’ continued support. Please look forward to Season 2 where Yoshino’s secret sides will be revealed.
