Megami no Cafe Terrace rom-com manga gets anime in 2023 — Akari Kitou will allegedly play 5 roles

On September 8, 2022, the official Twitter account for Kouji Seo’s Megami no Cafe Terrace (Megami no Kafe Terasu, lit., “Goddess Café Terrace”) manga announced it would be getting an anime adaptation in 2023.

What is the plot of Megami no Cafe Terrace?

The romantic comedy, harem story centers on a young Japanese man named Hayato Kasukabe, who due to being an orphan moved away from his hometown of Miura, Kanagawa, to Tokyo in order to attend high school. After Hayato passes the exams for the University of Tokyo, he is forced to return to the seaside town of Miura after he hears about his grandmother’s passing.

Once there, he discovers her struggling café Familia and gets to know the five women who have been working there. After getting to know the young women and learning about their troubles and their strong bond with his late grandmother, Hayato decides to re-open the café instead of selling it.

Akari Kitou likely to play all five waitresses!

On May 16, 2021, Shounen Magazine’s official YouTube channel released a PV in commemoration of Megami no Cafe Terrace Volume 1 releasing on May 17, 2021, and it featured voice actress Akari Kitou playing all five roles!

Akari Kitou is best known for her roles as Suzune Horikita in Classroom of the Elite, Nezuko Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Tsukasa Tsukuyomi in TONIKAWA: Over the Moon For You, and Erika Amano in A Couple of Cuckoos.

Where can I read the Megami no Kafe Terasu manga?

On February 17, 2021, Kouji Seo launched the Megami no Kafe Terasu manga in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine. On May 17, 2021, the first tankoubon volume was released. As of June 17, 2022, six volumes have been released.

The Megami no Kafe Terasu Volume 7 will be released on September 16, 2022.

Other manga that Kouji Seo is well-known for having written and illustrated are Fuuka, A Town Where You Love, and Suzuka.

Who are the main characters?

  • Hayato Kasukabe — an orphan who ends up inheriting his grandmother’s café. After meeting the interesting girls working there, he decides to keep the café open.
  • Ouka Makusawa — a 19-year-old woman with a tsundere personality. Ouka works part-time at the café while also studying at a fashion school. She has a twin sister named Kikka.
  • Ami Tsuruga — a 17-year-old woman, who is skilled in karate, attends high school, and works part-time at the café. Ami has a penchant for wearing masks in order to prank her co-workers.
  • Riho Tsukishima — a 20-year-old woman, who was formerly a child actress, attends college, and works part-time at the café.
  • Shiragiku Ono — a 20-year-old woman, who is Hayato’s childhood friend and works part-time at the café.
  • Akane Hououji — a 19-year-old woman, who comes from a rich family, is the vocalist and guitarist of a band, and works part-time at the café. Her family disapproves of her musical career.
