One of the more notable new anime releases of the year thus far was My Dress-Up Darling, and the show is now hyping up a special event for the series this Fall with a new poster giving each of the characters a stylish new makeover!
The original manga series by Shinichi Fukuda was already a small hit in and of itself. Still, it gained a whole new level of popularity with the release of its anime version earlier this Winter 2022. However, the show’s first season ended without any indication of whether or not there would be a My Dress-Up Darling Season 2.
My Dress-Up Darling’s new special event poster
Although there hasn’t been any formal announcement on a forthcoming My Dress-Up Darling second season, there is certainly hope that one will be made at a special event honoring the anime’s run that is taking place next month. This brand-new event, My Dress-Up Darling Eh～?! It’s OMG Insane to See You All! will take place on September 17 in Japan. It was revealed the event would feature members of the cast and the theme song performers.
A new poster featuring Wakana Gojo and the central crew in various makeovers has been released to commemorate the fall event. Check the poster out below:
It would make a lot of sense to see the anime return for a new season at some point, as the anime’s debut has led to massive success for the manga as it has reached spectacular new sales milestones as a result of the anime’s run. If you wanted to watch the anime for yourself in case a second season of the series was revealed this Fall, you can now find the series streaming via Crunchyroll and Funimation in both Japanese and English dubbed audio.
My Dress-Up Darling: How to get started with the anime and manga
My Dress-Up Darling initially gives the impression that it’s just another slice-of-life anime series set in a standard Japanese high school, but that’s only partially true. The show also serves as a paradigm for a fulfilling relationship between two fundamentally different individuals. It can even serve as an educational anime that explains to viewers how cosplay and modeling function. It offers a lot in both manga and anime forms.
Where to read the manga
Nine volumes of the continuing My Dress-Up Darling manga series have been published in Japan; the Western edition is lagging. Four volumes are already accessible in English, and volume five will be released on May 10, 2022. The print volumes of My Dress-Up Darling are available online from several vendors, including Barnes & Noble, the online manga/anime retailer Right Stuf Anime, and Amazon’s books section.
If it’s more convenient for them, readers can also sample the manga’s digital edition, which is frequently offered at a discount. My Dress-Up Darling is available through Barnes & Noble’s Nook service and Amazon’s Kindle platform.
Where to watch the My Dress-Up Darling anime
There are a few streaming services where you may watch the My Dress-Up Darling anime, which is currently too fresh for a Blu-ray/DVD release in the West. All 12 episodes, including the original Japanese dub and the English, Spanish, and Portuguese dubs, are generally available to stream on Crunchyroll. There are numerous language-specific subtitle options for the series.
As part of the merger with Crunchyroll, the anime will no longer be available to stream on Funimation, making Crunchyroll the main and potentially only option for viewers in the West.
