On August 26, 2022, the official Twitter account for the upcoming anime adaptation of TNSK’s My Master Has No Tail (Uchi no Shisho wa Shippo ga Nai) fantasy, comedy manga released a new trailer highlighting Kirino Enshi.

She’s a rakugo master who has gained the nickname “perfect storyteller” due to the fact she can only speak naturally when a metronome is used in her vicinity. She will be played by voice actress, Ayana Taketatsu, who is known for her role as Kotori Itsuka in the rom-com, harem anime Date a Live.

The tweet quotes Kirino Enshi saying, “I usually take it easy…when it comes to rakugo.”

Kirino Enshi’s cute hairstyle definitely makes her look like a yokai (demon) fox, but whether or not she’s fully human has yet to be revealed.

The anime TV series adaptation is set to premiere on September 30, 2022, on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS Asahi in Japan.

On August 25, 2022, a trailer highlighting Byakudanji Tsubaki – another rakugo master, who is a friendly guy, but tends to get himself in debt, was released and can be seen here:

In the trailer, Byakudanji Tsubaki is shown doing a random performance to earn some cash. Apparently, this doesn’t go very well when he ends up butt naked after the debt collectors come to collect what he owes them! He also appears to be easily misunderstood when he tries to flirt with women and instead incites their wrath.

In the trailer, we get our first glimpse of the tanuki Mameda, who is lamenting that she can’t use her magic on humans. Then, we see a stoic woman with a bob of short purple hair who will one day become Mameda’s “master”.

What is the plot of My Master Has No Tail?

The story centers on a tanuki named Mameda, who wants to trick humans using her ability to shapeshift into other people or objects. However, Mameda lives in an era where the age of tanuki shenanigans is over. Just when Mameda loses all hope in her dream she encounters a rakugo master named Bunko, who reveals to Mameda that it’s still possible to cast magic on humans by using words, not illusions. Mameda decides she wants to become Bunko’s apprentice, but the stoic woman is incredibly hard to convince.
