The rom-com, sci-fi Lum, the Invader Girl reboot will get four cours, which is 46 episodes in total. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shogakukan’s founding, it was decided that select original episodes of the anime TV series Lum, the Invader Girl (which ran for 195 episodes) would be remade into a reboot.
The reboot by David Production (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) is scheduled to premiere on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block in October 2022.
Who is Princess Kurama?
Princess Kurama is the princess of the Karasutengu (Crow Goblins), which are another alien race that appears in the story. In Urusei Yatsura, Oni and Tengu are two mythological Japanese creatures that are reinvented as an alien race. Tengu are known for having crow-like features.
Princess Kurama first appears in the story as she’s in the middle of going through an ancient tradition of putting herself in suspended animation and waiting for her destined mate to kiss her awake. Unfortunately, one of her drunk underlings decides to arrange things so that playboy Ataru Moroboshi ends up waking her up with a kiss. When Kurama first meets Ataru she’s completely against the idea of mating with him until she discovers Lum’s interest in him.
Still, the fact that Ataru appears to be a complete womanizer makes Kurama worried about deciding that he is indeed her fated mate. Kurama later decides to undergo the tradition yet again, but Ataru ends up kissing her awake again. At first, she believes Mendo woke her up. Kurama becomes even more disillusioned with the whole tradition and decides to seek out its origins. As it turns out, it was the way for the first elder to preserve a precious memory of his.
Who will Kurama decide is the perfect mate – Mendo? Ataru? Ryunosuke? Rei? We’ll have to wait until the anime to find out!

What is the plot of Lum, the Invader Girl?
The story is set in Tomobiki Town, Tokyo, where Lum, the gorgeous daughter of an invading alien race of Oni Aliens, becomes smitten with high school student Ataru Moroboshi, after he accidentally proposes to her. Ataru is a womanizer, however, and doesn’t intend to become monogamous despite the fact that his new fiancée has the tendency to send fierce electric shocks his way anytime she gets jealous.
Participating in Ataru and Lum’s ensuing shenanigans are classmate Shinobu, elegant shrine maiden Sakura, Lum’s best friends (Oyuki, Benten, and Ran), Buddhist monk Cherry, the little brat Ten, heir to a wealthy family Shutaro Mendo, and the (secretly female) beauty Ryunosuke. The plot develops into a classic slapstick love comedy where anything is possible! Get ready for some Japanese puns!
