The Spriggan reboot is a military Sci-fi adventure based on the Japanese manga series written by Hiroshi Takashige and illustrated by Ryoji Minagawa. From 1989 to 1996, it was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine and Shonen Sunday Zokan magazine. The manga chapters have been collected into 11 tankobon volumes.

In the late 90s, the manga was serialized in Manga Vision, and licensed in North America by Viz Media under the title Striker, but only three volumes were released. In 2022, Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga under its original title. In 1998, the manga received an anime film adaptation by Studio 4°C with Katsuhiro Otomo involved in the production.

The world of Spriggan is set in a reality where many years ago an ancient civilization known for its advanced technology ruled over the Earth until they ended up destroying themselves when they misused their great power. The civilization’s wizened survivors decided to leave behind a warning for future generations in the form of indestructible message tablets written in ancient Hebrew. The tablets state that if their high-tech inventions cannot be put to good use that they should be destroyed in order to protect humanity.

The second trailer was released on July 8, 2021.

The only thing protecting humanity from the misuse of these artifacts and preventing another doomsday is the ARCAM Corporation and their military arm, the ARCAM Private Army. Their mission is to stop these military groups from destroying themselves and to protect the OOPArts as their guardians in order to prevent them from being used as weapons. Their elite secret agents are known as Spriggans (or Strikers).
