Although WIT Studio’s great adaptation of Ranking of Kings Season 1 has come to an end, it’s never too late to recognize its achievements. The series will also be qualified for the yearly Galaxy Awards when the time comes, in addition to this monthly victory.

What’s more, once Ranking of Kings manga Part 2 has enough chapters it’s very possible that a Ranking of Kings Season 2 release date will be in our future.

The Ranking of Kings anime aired for 23 episodes starting on October 14, 2021. Crunchyroll and Funimation simultaneously broadcasted the series live in Japan, with Funimation also broadcasting an English version.

The March Galaxy Awards win

The television anime adaptation of Ranking of Kings (Ousama Ranking) manga earned one of the four Galaxy Awards for March, according to the Japanese Broadcast Critics Association.

The Galaxy Awards have been honoring exceptional programs, persons, and groups since 1963. This is intending to raise the standard of Japanese broadcast culture.

The awards are divided into four categories: television, radio, advertisements, and news activities. The judging and selection period for the yearly awards is defined as the period from April 1 to March 31 of the subsequent year.

In the TV category, TV shows receive monthly honors first. In the first and second half of the year, the awards committee meets to select the yearly victors from among the monthly victors whose names are listed in the GALAC magazine.

The Ranking of Kings anime was chosen for its depth of characters, multidimensional plot, “remarkably excellent action scenes,” and displays of deep emotions.

The Galaxy Prize committee detailed why the award was given as follows:

“We think that a powerless prince who is deaf and can not speak is a common story about succession to the throne, however, it digs deep into each character and it is multi-layered. It was made into a great story, and despite its simple design, they drew action scenes with amazing intensity and expressed complex emotions richly. It showed the brilliant possibilities of animation.”
