The Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 2 release date is coming up in Summer 2022. The series is preparing for the new episodes with a new teaser and poster featuring Ruka Sarashina!
The first anime adaptation of Reiji Miyajima’s original Weekly Shonen Magazine manga series is one of very few new anime to be released during the turbulent Summer 2022 anime schedule. It was no surprise that preparations were already in place once the first season ended, continuing the anime with the second season.
Rent-A-Girlfriend Ruka trailer
After two years of anticipation, Rent-A-Girlfriend fans will see its primary four “girlfriends” in action. After all that transpired in the first season, one of these stars is still Ruka, and fans can better understand what to anticipate from her in the upcoming episodes thanks to a new teaser and poster showcasing her “date” outfit. You can see them below:
Chizuru and Sumi’s character videos and images were already unveiled. In addition to Nao Toyama as Ruka, the main cast for the second season includes:
- Shun Horie in the role of Kazuya Kinoshita
- Chizuru is played by Sora Amamiya, while Sumi is played by Rie Takahashi
- Aoi Yuki plays Mami
Ruka is seen on a date in the visual:

The new episodes will begin airing on July 1st in Japan. An international release license for the new season has yet to be confirmed. Still, it’s not difficult to imagine fans outside of Japan will be able to watch these new episodes along with their debut in Japan.
The following staff members are working on the anime;
- Kazuomi Koga ( Rainy Cocoa, Welcome to Rainy Color ) is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment in collaboration with Studio Comet.
- Mitsutaka Hirota ( Anime-Gataris, Nanbaka, The Prince of Tennis II ) is writing and also supervising the scripts.
- Kanna Hirayama ( Yakusoku no Neverland, Sword Art Online: Alicization, Retry! ) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
- HYADAIN ( One Punch Man, Kuroko no Basket, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu ) is composing the soundtrack.
Rent-A-Girlfriend Ruka’s character developments
Ruka appears as Shun Kuribayashi’s rental girlfriend, similar to Sumi and Mizuhara, who were Kazuya Kinoshita’s rental girlfriends. Ruka was born with a cardiac condition that causes her heart to beat slower than the average person’s. Her heart begins to beat unnaturally fast after meeting Kazuya, with whom she falls deeply in love. She can also be stubborn, and if she doesn’t get her way, she will have a temper tantrum. In more critical cases, she can respond maturely and logically, allowing others to see her differently.

When Chizuru questioned Ruka about her approach to Kazuya, she stated that “it was not something she would understand.” This statement is intriguing since it indicates a personal motive for Kazuya’s pursuit, something she is not comfortable expressing. The manga’s Chapter 28 has every right to be entirely animated.
The events of this chapter, as the anime indicates, take place between episodes 7 and 8. Given that this was just a 12-episode season, it’s probable that the author significantly edited this chapter to save time. Furthermore, season 2 may provide the required chance to expound on the events depicted in the end credits sequence and give them the attention they deserve.
