One of the most popular isekai series in the game is Sword Art Online, and Reki Kawahara, the series creator, became a well-known author due to the series’ plot.

After all, his 2009 light novel gave Kirito and Asuna their first appearance. And now, a new Japanese report has confirmed Kawahara is prepared to launch another novel series that isekai fans would go crazy over.

Reki Kawahara’s new Demon’s Crest light novel

Reki Kawahara, the creator of Sword Art Online, will debut a brand-new light novel series on November 10, 2022. Titled “Demon’s Crest,” the light novel will be released by KADOKAWA’s Dengeki Bunko imprint. The series will be written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Yukiko Horiguchi.

Since The Isolator in 2014, this is Kawahara’s first brand-new piece. In Demon’s Crest, a group of teens tests a new VR game, but when they log out, they discover that reality and the game have merged.

What to expect from the Demon’s Crest light novel

The events of Demon’s Crest will occur in an environment that combines virtual- and augmented reality. The narrative will follow sixth-grader Yuma Ashihara as he beta tests a brand-new fantasy MMO in a virtual reality environment called Actual Magic. Yuma is awed by the game’s cutting-edge technology as he plays and destroys dungeons with friends.

However, Yuma’s avatar passes out after being engulfed in an odd red light following the day’s logout from the game. When he wakes up, he finds himself in a “New World,” which mixes the actual world and the VRMMO. He runs into class beauty Sumika Watamaki while considering the problem. Her appearance, nevertheless, is surprisingly similar to the game’s monsters.

Author Reki Kawahara is well known for his work on Sword Art Online. He also wrote The Isolator and Accel World. Yen Press has licensed light novels by Kawahara for an English release. Yukiko Horiguchi, popularly known as Shiromizakana, is an illustrator who created the characters for the TV series K-ON! and 22/7.

Reki Kawahara’s first work is Sword Art Online. He originally planned to apply for the 2001 Dengeki Novel Prize, now known as the ASCII Media Works Dengeki Game Novel Prize. He changed his mind, though, because it had more pages than allowed. Instead, Kawahara used the alias Fumio Kunori to publish it as a web novel. The light novels were published in April 2009 by ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint, and ASCII Media Works and KADOKAWA released a manga adaptation.
