The Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement release date will be in January 2023, the Summer 2023 anime season!

On July 25, 2022, Monthly Shonen Sirius’ official Twitter account announced that the Japanese light novel series Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement by FUNA is getting an anime adaptation

On November 2, 2015, the light novel series began publication on the novel posting website Shosetsuka ni Naro. On June 29, 2017, it was acquired by Kodansha, which published the series with illustrations by Tozai under their Kodansha Ranobe Books imprint. Since July 2021, six volumes have been released.

In November 2018, Sol Press licensed the English version of the light novel series for release in North America. On November 9, 2018, Sol Press released a trailer for Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement with voice actress Saori Hayami playing Mitsuha. Fans of the story felt that Saori Hayami’s voice was a perfect fit for the spunky Mitsuha and hope she will win the role for the upcoming anime.

At Anime Expo 2022, Kodansha USA announced they licensed the English version of the light novel series.

What is the plot of Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement?

The story begins when a young Japanese woman named Kouha Mitsuha falls off a cliff – instead of dying she’s transported to a medieval European fantasy world! Right away, things get hairy when wolves are suddenly chasing her. Just when she thinks she’s really going to die she’s transported back to Earth. That’s when she realizes that she’s somehow gained the ability to travel between Earth and this new world at will.

What’s a girl to do when she’s suddenly granted divine cosmic power? Strive for world domination? Nope. Mitsuha decides to use her unique ability to save up for retirement, of course! Mitsuha decides that 80,000 gold coins should be enough to live life and sets out to accomplish this task. Mitsuha’s adventures in the other world begin as she comes up with different schemes to make money.

Where can I read the manga adaptation?

On June 14, 2017, a manga adaptation illustrated by Keisuke Motoe began serialization on Kodansha’s Niconico-based Suiyobi no Sirius manga service. As of December 2021, the series’ manga chapters have been collected into nine tankobon volumes.

In November 2018, Sol Press licensed the English version of the manga for release in North America. At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Kodansha USA announced they had licensed the English version of the manga.
