Shin Kamen Rider is stated to be the next major chapter in Hideaki Anno’s expanding Shin world. It has received its first official poster, as well as the first synopsis for the next film!
Toei is honoring the 50th anniversary of the enormously successful and long-running Kamen Rider Tokusatsu series by branching out in a completely new way.
Kamen Rider is getting a Shin update. Quite similar to how Hideaki Anno’s Neon Genesis Evangelion revived Godzilla and Ultraman with new interpretations for a new age. Fans finally got to see more of what’s ahead to help celebrate the debut of Shin Ultraman in theaters across Japan.
Shin Kamen Rider released poster and story synopsis
The Shin Kamen Rider movie gets a new teaser and first poster, which offers a big tease about the film itself. This confirms that it’s a fresh take on the classic hero.
The story’s brief synopsis goes as follows:
“Takeshi Hongo, the Kamen Rider, is a superhuman. SHOCKER, an all-loving secret organization dedicated to humanity’s enjoyment, improved him. Kamen Rider has committed to battle SHOCKER in order to keep humans human.”

In the SHOCKER poster, it is revealed what SHOCKER stands for. SHOCKER apparently stands for, Sustainable Happiness Organization with Computational Knowledge Embedded Remodelling.
Shin Kamen Rider release date, staff, and more
The Shin Kamen Rider release date in Japanese movie theaters is set for March 2023. So far, no worldwide distribution plans have been announced as of this writing.
Hideaki Anno, the creator of the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise, is scripting, producing, and directing the film, with original franchise creator Shotaro Ishinomori also credited.
The film’s new crew members include Neon Genesis Evangelion mechanics designer Ikuto Yamashita (who was revealed to be the designer of the new Cyclone motorbike) and illustrators Mahiro Maeda and Yutaka Izubuchi, both of whom have previously worked with Anno.
Additionally, Katsuro Onoue has joined the project as associate director, Ikki Todoroki as assistant director, Isao Tsuge as costume designer, and Taku Iwasaki, composer of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, will produce the soundtrack.
Tasuku Emoto, Shinya Tsukamoto, Toru Tezuka, and Suzuki Matsuo join previously announced protagonists Sousuke Ikematsu as Takeshi Hongo (who transforms into the eponymous Kamen Rider) and Minami Hamabe as Ruriko Midorikawa in roles that have yet to be confirmed.
