What is the plot of The Dangers in My Heart anime?

The story centers on an unpopular, gloomy high school boy named Kyotaro Ichikawa, who is unhappy with his lonely school life and has a very dark outlook. He spends most of the time reading bloody horror stories by himself. These violent stories inspire him to start fantasizing about murdering his popular classmates that to his eyes appear to be overly happy. This angers him because he feels so miserable about everything and he wishes he could bring them down a peg or two.

Kyotaro’s prime target is the most popular, outgoing, and beautiful girl in his class – Anna Yamada. Unfortunately, the bane of his existence, Anna, ends up paying way too much attention to him, following him to the library, interrupting his precious reading time, and even going so far as to steal his snacks.

Kyotaro becomes obsessed with “killing” her and when he finds out she’s a model goes out and immediately buys her magazine. He begins to follow her around and saves her from dangerous situations. As they become closer he comes to realize that his feelings have unexpectedly changed from hate to love. Unfortunately, Kyotaro has no idea what he should do once he realizes he likes the girl he used to hate.

Comment from creator Norio Sakurai

The decision to animate my manga has finally been made! A lot of my readers have been looking forward to a possible anime adaptation, including me. The story carefully depicts the relationship between two people, in this case, the anti-social Kyotaro and his bubbly classmate Anna, and shows the changes in their hearts. I am excited that the visualization will be expressed more delicately by adding moving music, movement for the characters and color! This is all thanks to my fans’ continued support. While we’re waiting let’s chat about the series together!
