The Eminence in Shadow Episode 4 release date is on October 26, 2022.

On October 21, 2022, the official Twitter account and website for the anime adaptation of Daisuke Aizawa’s The Eminence in Shadow dark fantasy, isekai light novel series released two teaser trailers and screenshots for Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute Episode 4.

You can watch the first trailer on Kadokawa Anime’s official YouTube channel here:

The trailer begins with Beta, one of the members of Shadow Garden, revealing the intel she’s uncovered to Shadow. The Diabolos Cult is definitely behind the abduction of Princess Alexia and their aim is most likely to undermine the royals.

Alpha appears to be pleased that Shadow was able to figure things out so quickly. Next, Gamma informs Shadow that their “preparations” for their rescue mission are complete.

The next episode is ominously titled “Reward for Molesting”, which doesn’t bode well for Alexia at all. Also, in the trailer, there’s obviously a strange man wearing a white lab coat holding Alexia hostage and he takes a blood sample from Alexia.

You can watch the second special trailer on Kadokawa Anime’s official YouTube channel here:

The second trailer is even more disturbing and opens with Cid (Shadow) being tortured by unknown assailants.

Next, Sherry Barnett is seen threatening to dislocate Claire Kagenou’s arm for some reason. (Perhaps, due to the accusation Cid is behind the princess’s kidnapping). Sherry and Claire are both students that attend the Midgar Royal Spellsword Academy.

The villain states, “If I manage to find [Cid] then I can do fun things with the princess.” This doesn’t sound good at all!

At the very end, Alpha appears to be trying to steal a kiss from Cid. Cid may be unconscious due to the aftereffects of the torture he went through.

What is the plot of Eminence in Shadow?

Great heroes and diabolical villains are the types of imaginary characters people dream of being, but not Cid Kagenou. He longs to become the true mastermind behind it all, pulling the strings, and having his machinations drive the entire story. In his previous life in modern-day Japan, he was not able to achieve his goals. But now, he’s been reborn into a world of magic, and is determined to show the true eminence of shadow!

Cid pretends to be an average mob character (minor character) and creates a fake organization, which he names Shadow Garden. Armed with his overactive imagination, Cid makes up a whole backstory about an evil cult lurking in the shadows that needs to be taken down and starts to recruit members for the cause.

Interestingly enough, these imaginary adversaries turn out to be the real deal and call themselves the Diabolos Cult. Only Cid knows the truth – that everything was supposed to be a joke, and that their organization is fake. But if a fake organization manages to save the world from an evil cult is it really so imaginary?

Where can I read the light novel series or manga?

In May 2018, The Eminence in Shadow light novel series began serialization online on the user-generated novel publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro (Let’s Become Novelists). Since November 2018, Enterbrain (a division of Kadokawa Future Publishing) acquired the series for publication.

In December 2018, a manga adaptation with art by Anri Sakano began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s seinen manga magazine Camp Ace. In July 2019, a spin-off manga by Seta U titled Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Shadow Gaiden (The Eminence in Shadow – Shadow Side Story) was serialized via Comp Ace as well.

Yen Press has licensed both the light novel series and the manga’s English version for release in North America.
