The Isekai Yakkyoku: Drugstore in Another World release date, cast, OP/ED music revealed by trailer 2

On June 5, 2022, the official Isekai Yakkyoku website posted a second trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation unveiling more cast and staff members as well as the release date.

The Isekai Yakkyoku release date is on July 10, 2022. It will be broadcast on AT-X, Tokyo MX, Kansai TV and BS NTC in Japan. The Isekai Yakkyoku anime series has been licensed by Muse Communication in Taiwan, South and Southeast Asia.

The trailer also previews the anime’s opening theme song titled Muso-teki Chronicle (Dreamlike Chronicle) by Kaori Oshihara and the ending theme song titled Haku’u (Light Rain on a Sunny Day) by Little Black Dress.

A pharmacologist gets a second chance to save lives in a new world

Isekai Yakkyoku (Drugstore in Another World/Alternate World Pharmacy) is a Japanese light novel series written by Liz Takayama and illustrated by Keepout.

In July 2015 the light novel’s serialization online on the user-generated novel publishing website Shostsuka ni Naro (Let’s Be Novelists) began. Since January 2016 Media Factory has gathered the novel’s chapters into eight volumes under their MF Books imprint, and it featured illustrations by Keepout. Since November 2016, a manga adaptation illustrated by Sei Takano was serialized online via Kadokawa Shoten’s ComicWalker website. The manga has been collected into seven tankobon volumes. The Isekai Yakkyoku franchise has over 2.3 million copies in circulation.

On July 15, 2021, the anime TV series adaptation was announced and will be produced by Diomedea. Keizo Kusakawa (Kan Colle, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st, Ahiru no Sora, Dog Days and Sekirei) will direct the series with Wataru Watari (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, Girlish Number) writing the series’ script. Mayuko Matsumoto (Chio’s School Road, Kan Colle) will be in charge of character design. Composing the series’ music is Tatsuya Kato (Fate/keleid liner Prisma Illya, Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club, Love Live! Sunshin!!) and Satoshi Hono (Aggretsuko, Love After World Domination).

Pharma lucks out with a cute maid and assistant at his side

The story begins when a young man, who is a pharmacologist living in Japan, is so focused on his research that he accidentally works himself to death. The Karma of the Universe grants him a second chance at life and he’s transported to an alternate world where he is reincarnated as Pharma – the scion of a noble line of court healers.

This new world may be fantastical, but the people’s knowledge in medicinal cures and remedies is incredibly erroneous and Pharma sets about using his knowledge of modern pharmacology to remedy this and begins to save lives.

Voice actor Aki Toyosaki will play Pharma de Medicis. Voice actress Reina Ueda will play Eleonor “Ellen” Bonnefoy, who is the top apprentice of Pharma’s father, Bruno and Pharma’s tutor in medicine. Voice actress Kaede Hondo will play Charlotte “Lotte” Sorel, who is the maid of the Medicis Family and acts as Pharma’s caretaker.
