Play It Cool, Guys started out as a series of illustrations of hot guys
The origin of Play It Cool, Guys may surprise you. The idea for the manga series started out as a series of illustrations of good-looking anime-style guys that the author, Kokone Nata, posted on her Twitter account beginning with May 11, 2018. Those illustrations became so popular that they inspired her to draw a manga that went along with the original characters she’d created.
On February 23, 2019, the manga was serialized on Pixiv’s Pixiv Comic service online. The manga’s chapters have been collected into four tankobon volumes that have been released by Square Enix under its Gangan Comics Pixiv Imprint. Yen Press publishes the manga’s English version in North America.
On March 21, 2020, a novel adaptation written by Shino Kaida and titled Cool Doji Danshi: Connect It Cool, Guys was published by Square Enix.
