On November 18, 2022, the staff for Trigun Stampede released a new trailer, which revealed three most cast members and some startling differences from the original story.
Trigun Stampede will premiere in January 2023 on TV Tokyo and other networks in Japan. Starting in January 2023, Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide excluding Asia, but including the Philipines, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyztan.
You can watch the trailer here:
In the trailer Knives begins by referencing the bible and saying, “Have you ever wanted to have a conversation with God? Once God rained down fire from the heavens to destroy a corrupt city of fools. To create a righteous world. I’m evening out everything”. In this part, Knives is referencing the fact that he sabotaged the space pods so that they would crash land on the desert planet. His aim was to kill all the humans, but some still managed to survive.
But why did Knives want to kill off all the humans? As it turns out, the “power plants” that the humans intended to use on the desert planet have an actual “plant being” inside of them, and they’re being exploited. Knives and Vash were two human-like plant children that were born mysteriously from one of these plants. Probably, to serve as an emissary between the plants and humans.
The trailer also reveals that Millions Knives is really living up to his moniker now with a brand-new power of razor-sharp, tentacle-like knives that allow him to cut through almost anything. Joining Knives on his quest to purge humanity and free the “plants” is Legato Bluesummers – a man who is obsessed with death.
Zazie the Beast appears to have a different role than from the anime so we’ll have to wait and see what his true intentions are. In the manga, Zazie was part of an insect alien race, and that appears to be the case here once again. William Conrad appears to be Zazie’s guardian and he mentions that Knives isn’t someone they can really go up against so it makes sense they decide to join Knives.

Vash has several adventures on the planet of No Man’s Land (that resembles the Wild Wild West) and encounters some interesting individuals along the way whom he befriends: Milly and Meryl, who both work as insurance agents chasing down an infamous Humanoid Typhoon, and the traveling, gun-packing priest Nicolas D. Wolfwood. Eventually, Vash can’t escape his past and ends up facing Knives in an epic final battle.
Where can I read the manga or watch the anime?
The upcoming anime reboot is inspired by the Japanese sci-fi fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Yasuhiro Nightow titled Trigun. From April 1995 to January 1997, Trigun was serialized in Tokuma Shoten’s shonen manga magazine Monthly Shonen Captain and its chapters were collected in three volumes. From October 1997 to March 2007, the manga series continued its publication in Shonen Gashosha’s seinen manga magazine Young King OURs under the title Trigun Maximum. The English version of the manga has been licensed by Dark Horse Comics for release in North America.
From April to September 1998, an anime TV series adaptation by Madhouse lasted twenty-six episodes and aired on TV Tokyo in Japan. In April 2010, an anime feature film Trigun: Badlands Rumble premiered in Japan. In 2003, the anime series was licensed by Geneon Entertainment and started broadcast in the United States as part of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block. Later, the anime series was licensed by Funimation. Funimation has released the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. The original anime series is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
