On August 1, 2022, Twitter anime news leaker SugoiLITE claimed that a Sugar Apple Fairy Tale anime adaptation is in the works.
Keep in mind this information hasn’t been substantiated by any leaked art or official sources. As such, it should be treated as a rumor. But Sugoi LITE has been a reliable source of anime leaks in the past.
Unfortunately, Sugoi LITE didn’t share details about which animation studio or main staff is involved, but their post states more information is coming.
This is excellent because the only detail SugoiLITE has confirmed is that the anime will be a shojo. Rather than a seinen, like the second manga adaptation of the original light novel series.
In case you don’t know, shojo is meant for teenage girls and young women, while seinen is aimed at young men.
What is Sugar Apple Fairy Tale?
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale is about a 15-year-old girl, Ann, and her desire to become a Silver Sugar Master. After her mother passed away, Ann was determined to chart her path through life.
But, there are many obstacles in her way. Like Jonas, who seems like a nice guy and is popular with the ladies, and has proposed to Ann.
Ann doesn’t take him seriously because the other girls treat him like a prince, and she doesn’t want to get married out of pity. But, more importantly, the quickest way to Lewiston, the town where a festival is held to determine the next Silver Sugar Master, is called the Bloody Highway.
Due to a lack of inns along the way, bandits and wild beasts roam the area. But luckily, there’s an easy way for Ann to ensure her safety.
She needs to buy a Warrior Fairy. This goes against what her mother taught her, but when Ann meets Shall, she doesn’t have a choice.
Ann is determined to become a Silver Sugar Master this year, and keeping a Fairy is safer than hiring a bodyguard. Because when you purchase a Fairy, you’re given one of the Fairy’s wings, which is their heart.
You can do whatever you want to that wing because the Fairy will die if the wing is destroyed. Of course, Ann doesn’t want to hurt Shall or any Fairy, but in this world, Fairies are slaves.
And Shall quickly reminds Ann of this whenever she asks to be his friend.
Will love bloom in the anime?
Although this is the first anime adaptation of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, there are two manga adaptations. The first is complete at two volumes, despite the light novels ending with Volume 17.
The second manga adaptation began on June 3, 2022, and Yen Press is bringing it and the light novels into an English translation. Furthermore, Yen Press is taking things further with the manga by releasing the English translation on the same day as the Japanese version.
This only applies to the digital version, but ten chapters are available. No word on when fans can get a physical copy, but the first digital light novel will be available on September 20, 2022.
