‘Road of Naruto’ revisits franchise’s memorable scenes in commemoration of Naruto’s 20th anniversary

Naruto is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022! More precisely, the exact anniversary date is October 3, 2022.

To commemorate the occassion, Studio Pierrot released a special compilation video titled “Road of Naruto” on October 3, 2022.

 “Road of Naruto” features various memorable scenes from both Naruto and Naruto Shippuden as well as a medley of six OP theme songs of the popular series, as follows:

  • 2nd OP Theme Song: “Haruka Kanata” by Asian Kung-Fu Generation (Naruto)
  • 4th OP Theme Song: “GO!!!” by FLOW (Naruto)
  • 5th OP Theme Song: “Seishun Kyosokyoku” by Sambomaster (Naruto)
  • 3rd OP Theme Song: “Blue Bird” by Ikimonogakari (Naruto Shippuden)
  • 6th OP Theme Song: “Sign” by FLOW (Naruto Shippuden)
  • 16th OP Theme Song: “Silhouette” by KANA-BOON (Naruto Shippuden)

The “Road of Naruto” credits include the following staff members:

  • Yoshifumi Sasahara— director
  • Tetsuya Nishio — chief animation director
  • Gorou Sessha — storyboard
  • Hiromasa Ogura — art director
  • Shinya Oda — photography director

Studio Pierrot, which produced Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations has good news for the series’ fans:

“We hope you enjoy the 20th anniversary PV of the “NARUTO” anime! Additional Naruto-inspired content will be distributed on this studio Pierrot’s official YouTube channel.”

So, stay tuned, we’re guessing?

New Naruto Visuals for a colorful anniversary

While we’re awaiting future treats from Studio Pierrot, TV Tokyo has already released a set of newly-drawn 20th anniversary Naruto visuals to commemorate the series’ big day!

Masashi Kishimoto, the mastermind behind the Naruto manga, contributed a hand-drawn illustration for the occasion, which you can see immediately below.

The visuals are a must-see for all Naruto fans and feature representative scenes that symbolize each era of the popular series.

Another visual dubbed  “Future Inheritance,” which will depict the “bright smiles” of Boruto and other youngsters will be released at a later, undisclosed date.

The first Naruto TV anime premiered in October 2002 and ran for close to five years (until February 2007), comprising 220 episodes.

Naruto: Shippuden, the sequel to the original Naruto anime, premiered on February 15, 2007, and ended on March 23, 2017, comprising 500 episodes.

The manga has been adapted into eleven theatrical films, twelve OVAs, twenty-six light novels, a collectible card game, and a slew of video games.

The Naruto manga (1999-2014) was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump for the entirety of its run, comprising 72 tankōbon volumes.

Viz Media licensed the series for North America in 2003.
