The original A Couple of Cuckoos manga

The anime series is an adaptation of the eponymous manga (カッコウの許嫁, Kakkō no Iinazuke) by Miki Yoshikawa. Originally devised as a one-shot (September 2019), the manga has since expanded into a series and is being serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The chapters have been compiled into eleven tankōbon volumes as of March 17, 2022.

The plot follows a high school student named Nagi Umino who was switched at birth. On his way to meet his birth parents, Nagi meets Erika Amano — an internet celebrity trying to escape from an arranged marriage — who wants to make him her fake boyfriend. However, it turns out that Erika is the second child who was switched at birth and raised by his birth parents. The two sets of parents decide to resolve the affair by having the two children marry.

The manga is available in English; Kodansha USA is the publisher.
