On August 29, 2022, @WSM_manga, also known as Shonen Magazine News on Twitter, posted a stunning picture announcing a Blue Lock x Adidas collaboration. It’s called the Japan World Cup Kit and is working with Japan’s national team equipment.
There’s a short video on YouTube to further celebrate the event, but most details are unknown. We’re getting a gorgeous uniform that resembles the training uniform in Blue Lock, although that one was blue on black, while the one in the picture has a lot of white.
But will we see more items? And when can we expect to see this collaboration in stores or available for purchase?
How do you like your soccer/football?
Out of all the sports series Adidas could choose, I find it very interesting that they went with Blue Lock. Mainly since Blue Lock can also be described as a survival show, failing the Blue Lock program means you’re blacklisted from any official team in Japan.
But being chosen to participate in the Blue Lock means you’re acknowledged as being the best. And many of the players were all set to go to nationals.
Yet all 300 players decided to participate. And the culling begins immediately. Blue Lock takes the sports genre and throws all familiar tropes out the window.
Yesterday’s ally is just a stepping stool as the numbers continue to drop. Being nice gets you nowhere, and teamwork is only employed until you have the ball.
But if you lose the ball, you are as good as dead. Your career is over, and the people you played with become monsters.
The manga has 20 volumes in Japan, while English readers are waiting for the 15th. Anime fans can expect it to premiere on October 9, 2022.
