On May 22, 2022, fans will receive some news on Warner Bros. Japan Anime YouTube channel! There will be a live streaming event at 8 AM EST that will announce new information about Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 4. It’s very likely that the exact DanMachi Season 4 release date will be confirmed.
What is DanMachi?
DanMachi or Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Is set in a city called Orario, where gods and goddesses from different religions have decided to call home so they can be entertained.
DanMachi follows the tale of Bell Cranel, a 14-year-old adventurer and first member of the Hestia Familia. During a foolish attempt at exploring the 5th floor of the Dungeon, Bell finds himself cornered by a Minotaur!
But after a woman named Ais Wallenstein rescues him Bell falls in love with her. Bell quickly learns that Ais is one of the strongest members of the Loki Familia and is told to give up on trying to be Ais’s partner.
But Bell tells himself that he’ll become strong enough to stand beside Ais. And after going back to the Dungeon, Hestia learns that Bell has gained his first skill, one that will help Bell level up faster as long as he keeps his desire to reach Ais firm.
But Hestia doesn’t tell Bell about this as she’s in love with Bell, and it’s not long before other deities and mortals develop feelings for Bell. Season 1 showed Bell and the Hestia Familia grow in exciting ways. Liliruca Arde, the supporter, Welf Crozzo the smith, Mikoto Yamato, an adventurer who uses katana, and Saruhime Sanjouno, a woman with outstanding magical skills, will join the Hestia Familia.
Is DanMachi worth watching/reading?
I wasn’t interested in DanMachi when it first came out. The English title turned me off, and I felt it was just another harem series.
And in some ways, this wasn’t wrong. Bell wants to be worthy of Ais, but he’s oblivious to Hestia’s feelings.
Whereas Hestia gets jealous quickly and will grab onto Bell to stake her claim before any girl, she’s also kind and treats everyone in her Familia with respect. This plays into Hestia’s origins as she’s based on a Greek Goddess.
Hestia is the Goddess of Hearth, Home, Family, and the Eternal/Sacrificial Flame. But Hestia is supposed to be one of the 3 Virgin Goddesses, yet she wants a romantic relationship with Bell.
Hestia isn’t mentioned in many stories, but her role in the daily lives of the Greek and Roman people is amazing. Likewise, her role in the anime is funny and intriguing.
I’m a sucker for anything to do with mythology, and I can’t wait to dive into this series!
