The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc release date is getting ever closer! Though no release date has been confirmed, we now have a new trailer that shows us new and familiar faces.

Most notably, Mist Hashira Muichrio Tokito, Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, and Demon Slayer Genya Shinazugawa. We also get to meet two of the upper rank demons Gyokko of Upper Rank 5 and Hantengu of Upper Rank 4.

Here’s what we know about the new season. It’ll cover manga chapters 100 to 127, which will give us about 10 to 12 episodes. It’s set two months after the Entertainment District Arc in the timeline.

And fan favorites Zenitsu and Inosuke will not be prominent within Demon Slayer Season 3. As the name implies, we’ll instead get a good look at one of the most crucial groups in Demon Slayer: The Swordsmiths.

What can we expect from Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba The Swordsmith Arc

We learned in Demon Slayer Season 1 that there are two ways to kill a demon. Sunlight and a special sword called a Nichirin (color-changing) sword.

So far, we’ve met two swordsmiths who can make these legendary weapons. Hotaru Hagenezuka, who forged Tanjiro Kamado’s sword, and Kozu Kanamori, who forged Inosuke’s twin swords.

But the Swordsmith Arc will show us a few more and highlights the importance of this village. Upon waking up from his two-month coma, Tanjiro finds that Zenitsu has already left for a job and Inosuke is there to greet him.

When Tanjiro asks if his new sword (his second sword was chipped during the Entertainment Distract Arc) has arrived yet, and sees that Hotaru Hagenezuka has left him a small pile of letters.

Stating that he has no sword to give Tanjiro and he should just die. Since Hotaru has tried to kill Tanjiro before over breaking or losing his sword, this doesn’t surprise him.

But Tanjiro still needs a sword and so gets permission to travel to the Swordsmith Village. But even the journey isn’t straightforward. Because of the crucial role the Swordsmiths play, Tanjiro is blindfolded, wears earmuffs to block out sounds, and has a set of nose plugs so he won’t be able to find the village on his own.

Several members of the Kakushi (support corps) have to carry him on their backs. Each one only takes him a part of the way before switching.

The Kakushi are in turn guided by Kausgai crows who are also switched out at regular intervals. The only location that’s harder to reach is the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps Ubuyashiki.

Once he reaches the village, Tanjiro encounters two Hashiras and a Demon Slayer Corp member. We’ve met these three way back in season 1.

Which characters will we meet in The Swordsmith Arc

Genya Shinazugawa the younger brother of the Wind Hashira (Sanemi Shinazugawa) was introduced to us at the Final Selection Arc. He left quite the impression as he showed a lack of respect for the two younger sisters of the current leader of the Demon Slayer Corps.

We met the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji during the Mount Natagumo Arc. This was also our first introduction to the other Hashira, but except for Sanemi attacking Nezuko with his sword, none of them really left an impression on me.

The new faces we meet are Tecchin Tecchikawahara (chief of the Swordsmith Village), Kotetsu (an apprentice and youngest resident), Tetsuido (only in flashbacks and he made Muichiro’s and Mitsuri’s swords), and Yoriichi Type Zero (a combat doll that’s stronger than a human).

As for the demons, we get to see Upper Rank 5 Gyokko and Upper Rank 4 Hantengu. Gyokko is said to be Muzan’s (the Demon King) favorite Upper Ranker for the vases that he makes.

Hantengu is very interesting, but I also hate his personality. He has the ability to make clones of himself that represent his emotions. Each has their own name and unique abilities.

He’s the type that loves to play the victim and blames his crimes on everything from other people to his own hands. It’s possible he has a mental illness.

Hantengu had many wives and children when he was human, and he killed all of them. He also reveals crucial information about Nezuko to Muzan before being killed by Tanjiro.

When can we expect Demon Slayer Kimetso no Yaiba Season 3

Ufotable has done a great job in putting out content at a regular pace. Demon Slayer Season 1 came out in Fall 2019 with the Mugen Train film coming out in Japanese theaters in Fall 2021.

The Entertainment District Arc came in December 2021 and Ufotable has no intention of making the Swordsmith Village into another movie. We could see it as early as 2023, or at the very latest, sometime in 2024.

Personally, I don’t think we’ll have to wait that long. Season 3 has been confirmed shortly after the second season ended. And sadly, the manga is complete at 23 volumes.

There are a total of 11 arcs in Demon Slayer. That’s easily two more seasons and maybe a film. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some anime exclusive content this season.

I hope they do continue to animate the TV show with Demon Slayer Season 4: Infinity Castle Arc. It’s one of the stories that get all of the emotions right.

Will Tanjiro survive long enough to cure Nezuko? Does she even want to be? Will the anime end the same way the manga did? Only time will tell and we’ll get some great action once Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba The Swordsmith Village Arc arrives!
