Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time release date on Netflix confirmed for April 2022 by trailer

Fans of the popular mystery thriller, Detective Conan, won’t have to wait long for the next installment in the series. And according to an announcement from the official Twitter account and website, Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time (Detective Conan Zero no Nichijou) will start airing in April 2022. 

The TV anime series will appear on Japanese channels such as BS Nippon Television, TOKYO MX, and Yomiuri TV. It will also receive domestic distribution and exclusive worldwide distribution via Netflix.

Based on the manga by Takahiro Arai, Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time is a spin-off of the original manga series by Gosho Aoyama. Furthermore, the story focuses on the blonde-haired Public Security Bureau (PSB) agent — Toru Amuro (also known as Rei Furuya). 

The manga began serialization in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday in May 2018. And between August 2018 to October 2021, five tankōbon volumes of Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time have been published. Also, Honya Club ranked it at 6th place on their “Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2018”.

Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time story details

The story details are minimal at this point, but the official website does give Detective Conan fans a taste of what to expect. Here’s a translated excerpt in English:

At one point, Toru Amuro, a disciple of the famous detective Kogoro Mouri.

At one point, Rei Furuya, a public security police officer who protects Japan.

Another time, Bourbon, a member of the Black Organization.

No one knew the private life of a man with three faces (triple face) …

Who are the OP & ED artists, cast, and staff?

The OP artist RAKURA performs the opening song — Shooting Star. And the ED artist Rainy performs the closing song — Find the truth. Fans who pre-order the CD single “Zero no Nichijouban” due for release on April 13, 2022, will receive an additional bonus.

The only cast member currently confirmed is Toru Furuya (also cast as Amuro Ray from Mobile Suit Gundam), who voices Toru Amuro. Here’s what Toru Furuya had to say about his role in Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time:

“Not only the fans but also I was anxious to animate ‘Zero no Nichijou’.

It’s been 14 years since Casshern Sins was the main character in the TV anime, and I’m very happy.

Key staff members involved include Satoshi Kosaka and Aya Oshimi as the directors, Kyoko Yoshimi and Chie Saitoh as the animation directors, Kyoko Yoshimi as the character designer, Keiko Urakami and Yasuyuki Urakami as the sound directors, and TOMISIRO composes the music. The animation studio is TMS Entertainment, and production is handled by Toms Entertainment.
