Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Blu-Ray/DVD release date confirmed – English subtitles included in Japan box set

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the most anticipated prequel anime movie of 2022, and fans can pick up a physical edition on September 21, 2022, as long as you live in Japan or can find a compatible copy with any player. Hello, eBay!

I’ve heard Jujutsu Kaisen get compared to numerous anime, and I agree with a few of them. And Jujutsu Kaisen 0 fits that description perfectly.

Usually, manga fans have the advantage, but in the case of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, anime wins! Because the movie takes the four chapters, it’s based on and adds a ton of content.

We’re talking more time with new characters, including the villains. We can see how Yuta is similar yet different from Yuji.

And how cool will it be when these characters meet? Jujutsu Kaisen 0 happens a year before the anime timeline.

This means there’s a high chance we’ll see Yuta in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2! But let’s focus on the movie and the manga that inspired it.

Is it worth buying?

I believe so, but it will depend on how much it costs and if I can get anything else with it. Because Japan is getting the physical release now, we should receive news on Jujutsu Kaisen 0 English dub soon.

But until then, we’ll have to work with some educated guesses and hope we get lucky.

Standard JJK Blu-Ray/DVD

The DVD is set at 4,180 yen, which comes out at 32 dollars. The Blu-Ray is 5,280 yen or 40 dollars, and the audio is Japanese with English subtitles.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Special Edition

The special editions come out at 8,052 yen/62 dollars for the DVD, and the Blu-Ray is 9,052 yen or 70 dollars. So what makes the special editions so special?

The special edition comes with a feature box art, digipak illustration by animator Tadashi Hiramatsu, a booklet featuring key visuals and promotional art, another booklet with re-published and new interviews, a voiced comic of a nine-page Jujutsu Kaisen 0 chapter 5, and live recordings of two Jujutsu Kaisen stage greeting events.

The voiced comic was originally released to theatergoers in Japan. I’ll aim for a DVD special for the comic alone.

I’ve read all of Jujutsu Kasien 0, and it’s hard for me to envision a better ending for it. Chapter 4 had action, a little humor, love, and growth.

I don’t know what would happen if Rika and Sukuna ever fought, but Suguru Geto called her the Queen of Curses and said she was the key to creating his perfect world. Sukuna, called the King of Curses, is more aggressive than Rika.

This matchup would be a great thing to see, but I’d feel bad for Rika and Yuta, considering how chapter 4 ended.
