A Kaina of the Great Snow Sea anime PV teaser has confirmed that the anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2023. The show will air on Fuji TV “+ Ultra” and others. The anime will also premiere on Crunchyroll for members worldwide outside of Asia when it airs in January 2023.
The first four episodes of Kaina of the Great Snow Sea will have their world premiere at Crunchyroll Expo 2022 on August 6, 2022.
The show was first announced back in January 2022, along with a teaser PV revealing January 2023 premiere and the main staff.
The teaser PV gives us a glimpse into the setting of the anime. It also introduces us to the two lead characters and their voice actors.

The anime is directed by Hiroaki Ando at Polygon Pictures. Sadayuki Murai is in charge of the series composition, with Sadayuki Murai and Tetsuya Yamada penning the script. Kohta Yamamoto and Misaki Umase are composing the music.

Kaina of the Great Snow Sea, also known as Ooyukiumi no Kaina, is an original anime series created by Tsutomu Nihei. The television anime commemorates Polygon Pictures’ 40th anniversary.
It is the second series from the +Ultra announcement programming partnership between Crunchyroll, Fuji TV, and Slow Curve. The partnership was announced in September 2021.
A manga adaptation with art by Itoe Takemoto has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine since February 2022.
The story of Kaina of the Great Snow Sea takes place in a different world where the earth is about to disappear due to the ever-expanding “Snow Sea.” People either live on the surface at the roots of enormous trees or high in the canopy, which spreads over the planet’s atmosphere.
A chance encounter between Kaina, a boy from the canopy, and Liliha, a girl from the surface, will change the world.
