More about Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari

Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari, known in Japan as simply Mononogatari, is an upcoming anime based on the supernatural manga of the same name written and illustrated by Onigunsou.

The manga was first serialized in Shueisha’s Miracle Jump magazine in April 2014 but was later transferred to Ultra Jump in January 2016. Shueisha has compiled the manga chapters into 14 tankobon volumes to date.

Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the series for English release, with the first volume scheduled to release on January 10, 2023.

The premise of Mononogatari is a supernatural world where spirits can go over to the human world and possess objects to gain a physical form becoming “Tsukumogami.” The story follows Hyouma Kunato, a member of the Senome clan that is in charge of peacefully sending the tsukumogami back to their world.

But since the tsukumogami took something precious away from Hyouma, he loathes them. So Hyouma’s grandpa sends him to live with Botan Nagatsuki, a girl who lives with six tsukumogami as a family.
