About the Mix: Meisei Story manga series

The Mix: Meisei Story anime series is based on the baseball-themed manga series titled MIX (ミックス) by Mitsuru Adachi. MIX is a sequel to Adachi’s previous manga series Touch.

MIX (stylized in all caps) has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Monthly Shōnen Sunday since May. The individual chapters have been collected into 19 tankōbon volumes as of July 2022.

Touch (タッチ, Tatchi) was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1981 to 1986. The individual chapters have been collected into 26 tankōbon volumes. Albeit not widely known worldwide, Touch is one of the best-selling manga series in Japan, with over 100 million copies in circulation. In addition, it won the 1983 Shogakukan Manga Award for both shōnen and shōjo.

Touch tells the story of twin brothers Tatsuya and Kazuya Uesugi and their neighbor Minami Asakura who strive to enter the Kōshien baseball tournament. Unfortunately, Kazuya gets into a traffic accident, which forces his brother to take over his position as an ace pitcher.

MIX takes place thirty years after the original story and tells the story of stepbrothers Tōma and Sōichirō Tachibana, who have similar aspirations to the Uesugi brothers’.
