Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 2 released a key visual on Mami Nanami and a trailer for her. Mami is voiced by Aoi Yuki and Laura Stahl in Japanese and English, respectively.
But who is Mami Nanami, and why does she do the things she does? Since the manga has 26 volumes and is going strong with a manga spin-off, the anime should continue for a long time.

Who is Mami Nanami?
Mami Nanami is Kazuya Kinoshita’s ex and the reason the series exists. She dumps Kazuya after dating him for one month because she claimed she met someone new.
In episode 2, Kazuya and Chizuru go to a restaurant with some of Kazuya’s friends, and Mami shows up. Mami can’t believe that Kazuya has moved on with a beautiful woman, so she decides to sabotage their relationship.
She belittles Kazuya about how incompetent he was during their relationship. Finally, seeing Kazuya does nothing to stand up for himself. Chizuru calls Mami out on her behavior, but Mami turns to Kazuya, and he apologies for Chizuru.
In Episode 3, Kazuya asks Mami about her new boyfriend, and she claims that she was lying because Kazuya brought Chizuru with him to the restaurant. Mami proceeds to insult Chizuru, but Kazuya stops her.
He admits that he still has feelings for Mami and doesn’t care if she insulted him. But he won’t let her insult Chizuru.
She becomes obsessed with Kazuya and declares on Twitter that she’ll make him break up with Chizuru no matter what when Kazuya and his friends go to the beach. Mami lures Kazuya away to help her find her missing bracelet but steals a kiss from him before he can stop her.
Mami calls Kazuya in episode 4, but once he hears that Chizuru fell overboard, he goes to save her. Episode 11 is a roller coaster; Mami sees Kazuya on his date with Sumi and comments that he’s more a ladies’ man than she thought.
Mami pumps for Sumi for information learns that she’s a rental girlfriend, and buys a date with Chizuru the next day. Everything comes to a close in episode 12.
Mami takes Chizuru to the karaoke bar where Kazuya works and confronts her with the truth. Chizuru refuses to take Mami’s money, and the two leave the bar.
Chizuru ends the confrontation, stating that Kazuya is her boyfriend, and did Mami even love him? Was Kazuya the love of her life?
Mami gives a vague answer, and the next day everyone is doing their own thing.
What’s coming in Rent-A-Girlfriend?
The Rent-A-Girlfriend manga has reached 236 chapters in Japan and has a spin-off focusing on Sumi. Volume 16 of the main manga will be available in English on December 20, 2022, and the spin-off Rent-A-(Really Shy!)-Girlfriend volume 2 came out on January 11, 2022.
A crossover smartphone game called Kanojo, Okarishimasu Heroine All-Stars came out in September 2021. Chizuru, Mami, Sumi, and Ruka tossed in with female characters from Fairy Tail, The Seven Deadly Sins, Domestic Girlfriend, Girlfriend, Girlfriend, Fire Force, Yamada-Kun, and the Seven Witches, and Negima! Magister Negi Magi.
A live-action television drama will premiere in July 2022. Ryusei Onishi will play Kazuya, and Hiyori Sakurada will play Chizuru.
