Japanese voice actors discuss Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? Episode 24

In addition to the announcement of the So I’m a Spider, So What? Episode 24 release date the official website released comments from the main Japanese voice cast.

Kumoko is voiced by Aoi Yuuki and she said the most memorable scene she recorded was the battle against the Earth Dragon Araba. In relation to the finale in So I’m a Spider, So What? Episode 24, she says, “Thank you for your support so far! I’m doing my best to stay strong and cheerful until the end, so I hope you’ll be able to see me through!”

Schlain Zagan Analeit is voiced by Shun Horie and his most memorable scene was the battle with Hugo Baint von Renxandt.

“The battle with Hugo left a strong impression on me because I had a lot of opportunities to record it with Mr. Ishikawa, so it holds a special place in my heart,” explained Mr. Horie. “I also like the scene where he uses his ‘mercy’ skill to save Katia from dying. I also have fond memories of the scene where he accepts his fate and looks forward to the future, saying ‘I’m a hero.’ The process of Schlain’s growth throughout the story itself is probably one of the most memorable scenes.”

As for the finale, Mr. Horie had this to say to anime fans:

“The human side is also struggling to keep up with the Spider Girl. I miss the days when the human cast members and I were worried about Mr. Yuuki when recording started. It didn’t take long for us to finish recording all the episodes, and now the last episode will be on air,” the voice actor said. “The disparate timelines are now connected as one. What will become of the battle? Please watch to the end!”

So I’m a Spider, So What? 24 delay blamed on production issues

This past year there have been an unusual number of anime projects delayed by production issues. Most could be blamed on the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but in 2021 there are teams working so hard that that either the quality or the schedule begins to slip.

For example, anime fans were forced to wait three whole months to watch the ending in Wonder Egg Priority Episode 13. Some anime studios will suffer from bad production crunch on a routine basis, but these production issues were described as “scary” by industry experts.

The first season of the So I’m a Spider, So What? anime TV series was produced by Japanese animation studio Millepensee, which is best known for the 2019 Cop Craft anime. The studio also provided animation support on the much-derided Berserk 2016/2017 anime that was known for its 3D/2D hybrid animation.

Studio exsa (Back Arrow, Haikyuu!! Season 3, Kengan Ashura) was responsible for CG animation with Studio ENGI (assistance on BEASTARSCode GeassDate a LiveDeca-DenceDr. STONEDanMachiMoriarty the PatriotRe:ZEROThe Rising of the Shield HeroSword Art OnlineThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a SlimeVinland Saga) providing CGI production assistance.

On Twitter, assistant CG animator Naoya Fukushi described the reasons why Episode 24 was delayed. The animator wanted everyone to know that “I tweeted this because I wanted you to know that the studio is working at the risk of its life.”

“There are a lot of heartless tweets from people who don’t know anything about the production situation. The outsourced animation for several episodes was wiped out. Millepensee had to newly recreate them, consuming the staff that was supposed to be allocated to the next few episodes. The staff ended up being too busy for the later episodes that were set aside for them. The staff is literally struggling to cope with the situation. Please be patient with the delay…

“I do agree with the sentiment that regardless of the situation at the studio, what ends up being aired is all that matters. No matter what the reason is, it’s not right to drop the broadcast. But I made this tweet because I just wanted people to know that my friends’ studio is fighting for the sake of their work. And people who are throwing around insults won’t stop until someone commits suicide.

“Thank you. I’m really happy with the words of fans from overseas. Thanks to everyone, we were able to successfully complete the final delivery. The staff who worked hard can now take a rest with peace of mind.”

Thankfully, the production issues that occurred at Studio Millepensee did not delay the So I’m a Spider, So What? Episode 24 release date too much. Let’s just hope the anime TV series is renewed for a sequel. Stay tuned!
