The Sword Art Online -Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night release date has been delayed due to delay in production due to the nationwide spread of the new coronavirus infection in Japan. The movie was initially scheduled to be released on September 10, 2022.
The production staff has apologized for any inconvenience and announced that the new release date would soon be updated on the official website.
The movie was first announced back in November 2021 on the Sword Art Online -Progressive – Hoshi Naki Yoru no Aria (Sword Art Online -Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night) official website.
A special advance completion screening event, which was scheduled to take place on August 24, 2022, at Shinjuku Wald 9 theatre in Tokyo, has been canceled due to the postponement of the movie release.

The original soundtrack of the movie, which was scheduled to be released on September 9, 2022, has also been postponed. The new release date will be updated on the official website at a later date.

Sword Art Online -Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- is the second film in the Sword Art Online Progressive light novel series. Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night, which is the first anime film in the series, premiered in Japan in October 2021.
