Another entry in the long list of light novel anime adaptations is on its way! The Executioner and Her Way of Life is heading to the silver screen soon, in spring 2022.
For those unfamiliar with the series, The Executioner and Her Way of Life (Shokei Shojo no Bajin Rodo in Japanese) is an upcoming yuri anime based on a light novel written by Mato Sato and illustrated by Nilitsu. To date, the light novel has 6 volumes and is ongoing.
The light novel has also inspired a manga adaptation, which was released in June 2020. The manga is written by the creator, Mato Sato, and illustrated by Ryo Mistuya.
So far, the manga has three volumes and counting!
The Executioner and Her Way of Life premieres on April 2, 2022. It will initially air on the Japanese networks Tokyo MX, BS11, AT-X.
J.C. Staff, the studio behind the second season of One Punch Man, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Azumanga Daioh, is producing this adaptation. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series, so it will be available to stream on HiDive
The opening theme song for the anime is Paper Bouquet, performed by Mili; while the ending theme song is Touka Serenade (Serenade by Lamplight), performed by ChouCho.
What is The Executioner and Her Way of Life About?
The Lost One’s are troublesome wanderers, who hail from a distant land called Japan. Long ago, the people of Japan were given a unique power called Pure Concept.
Armed with this supernatural force, they were eventually able to unify and advance the entire world. However, once Pure Concept spiraled out of control, the world descended into chaos.
No one knows how or why the Lost Ones are able to leave their homeworld, but one thing is clear. Everywhere the Lost Ones go, calamity and disaster are sure to follow.
Menou the Executioner is responsible for finding and eliminating the Lost Ones. One day, she attempts and consequently fails to kill a Lost One named Akari Tokito.
Unfortunately for Menou, Akari is able to reverse her death through the power of Pure Concept of Time. As a result, Menou is forced to remain by Akari’s side until she figures out a way to kill her.
