The Tokyo 24th Ward English dub is back with episodes 7 to 9 and they are streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation. According to its official website, Tokyo 24th Ward episode 7 was delayed to maintain the main story’s quality.

It’s worth noting that the voice actor for Shuta Aoi has changed for the dub. As a result, Alejandro Saab will do the remaining episodes in season 1.

Whereas Billy Kametz did episodes 1-6, on April 26, 2022, Kametz announced he was taking a hiatus from voice acting and moved back to Hershey, Pennsylvania. In addition, Kametz was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and started a GoFundMe page to cover travel, insurance costs, medical bills, and daily necessities.

Kametz is still on hiatus, but on the bright side, he’s also still listed under AVO Talent.

What is Tokyo 24th Ward?

Tokyo 24th Ward is an anime original produced by CloverWorks. The Japanese version ran from January to April 2022, and the English dub is still ongoing.

The 24th Ward is an artificial island. Ran, Koki, and Shuta were born there and are childhood friends. But one day, a fire broke out in the school, and Koki’s little sister Asumi was trapped inside.

The boys argued over the right way to save her, and Shuta rushed in but could not rescue her. One year later, they receive a call from Asumi, and she shows them a vision of the future.

She tells them that they must choose in life-and-death situations, and a mysterious person, Carneades, appears and threatens the world with his intentions. Is there a connection between Asumi and Carneades?

What happens next?

If you only watch dubs, I won’t spoil things for you. However, episode six ended on a shocking cliffhanger, and if you haven’t watched Tokyo 24th Ward, I will talk about this episode.

Episode six: Under the Green Flower begins with SARG attempting to arrest Ran, but DoRed members rescue him. The next day, a prerecorded message by Kunai plays, and he reveals that he created an app on the cPhones that was the basis for drug “D.”

Kunai claims it was modified and distributed by Howard so he could control Shantytown, and Kunai targeted Howard’s ship to stop him. This revelation causes a rift in RGB’s friendship.

Mayor Gori shows Ko the accumulation radio tower Cornucopia, which is almost complete and will be the center of the Hazard Cast system.

The supercomputer has been named the KANAE system after Ko’s mother. A few days later, Mayor Gori announced a trial run before finishing the implementation.

Because the KANAE system uses personal data from the participant’s cPhones, the citizens question if added security is worth the cost of privacy. Gori reveals to his son Ko that the system’s heart is Asumi’s brain, kept in stasis and her damaged body.

Is Asumi still alive, and why didn’t Gori tell Ko about this sooner?
