The Vinland Saga Season 2 release date will be on January 9, 2023, the Winter 2023 anime season.
Episode 1 will debut on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other stations (to be revealed at a later date). Vinland Saga Season 2 will be streaming worldwide on Netflix except for China. Crunchyroll is also streaming the second season internationally, excluding Asia.
The news was announced on October 24, 2022, as previously hinted, by Twin Engine, the production company behind Vinland Saga Season 1 (other companies in the anime production committee included Production I.G, Wit Studio, and Kodansha).
Accompanying the premiere date announcement was a brand-new trailer previewing the Vinland Saga Season 2 OP theme song “River” by Anonymouz.

Starting with the second season, production will be switching from WIT Studio to Studio MAPPA for further productions.
Anonymouz comments on the Vinland Saga Season 2 OP theme song
Anonymouz, a self-proclaimed “girl with no name,” is a 20-year-old performer from Japan, who also happens to be a fan of the Vinland Saga franchise.
She has provided commentary on her being chosen to perform the OP theme song for Vinland Saga Season 2, stating that the first time she saw the (Vinland Saga) artwork, her heart was instantly moved.
Before she even noticed, says Anonymouz, she’d been already “engrossed in the world of the artwork”. While writing the song, she was focusing on Thorfinn who “has lost his only purpose in life and flows into an unknown world, facing love and pain.”
“As I intertwined the light and shadow that abide within me, I put my emotions into this song. I feel highly honored to be part of the work that I love so much. It would be very nice if everyone could enjoy “River” alongside the (Vinland Saga) series.”

Minori Nishita will aid Satoshi Hashimoto with color design, while Kouhei Ogawa will serve as a 3DCG director (taking over from Mayu Takehana who performed the role for Vinland Saga Season 1).
Vinland Saga anime series is based on the eponymous manga by Makoto Yukimura that’s being serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine. The individual chapters have been collected into 23 tankōbon volumes as of May 2022.
Kodansha USA has licensed the manga series for an English-language release.
Vinland Saga Season 1 aired in 2019 and won the Anime of the Year Award at the 6th Anime Trending Awards in 2019. Vinland Saga Season 2 has fans excited, so stay tuned for further announcements!
