What is Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina?
As the title suggests, this series is about a Witch named Elaina and her journey through her world. It started as a light novel series written by Jougi Shiraishi and is illustrated by Azure.
The light novels are still going with 18 volumes available in Japan, but English readers will get the 9th volume on September 20, 2022. A manga adaptation is also underway, with Japan getting the 4th volume on March 7, 2022.
No date has been set for when English readers will get it, but the third volume came out on November 16, 2021. An anime adaptation is available on Crunchyroll, with 12 episodes in season one, and Wandering Witch Season 2 is strongly hinted at, yet unconfirmed. (Anime news leakers claim that the production of Majo no Tabitabi Season 2 was secretly greenlit back in 2021.)
Wandering Witch: Journey of Elaina handles many topics and teaches some life lessons. But be warned, Elaina is the main character and narrator of the story.
She isn’t a hero, and she can’t use magic to fix everything. There are happy moments to be found, but injustice and human cruelty are present.
