The long-expected Golden Kamuy Season 4 release date is today! The fourth season premiered during the Fall 2022 anime season, at 11:00 PM JST on October 3, 2022.
Golden Kamuy S4 will be made available on multiple platforms for international audiences, as follows:
- Amazon Prime Video
Basically, no matter where you are, you’re in for a treat! The anime adaptation of Golden Kamuy has lived up to fans’ (high) expectations so far and there’s no reason to doubt Season 4 will be any less stunning, so enjoy the ride!
Mere hours before the premiere, non-credit versions of the Golden Kamuy Season 4 OP and ED theme song videos have been released via YouTube for everyone to see.
The OP theme song is “NEVER SAY GOODBYE” by ALI feat. Mummy-D:
The ED theme song is “Subete ga Soko ni Arimasu Yo ni” (lit., “I Pray That Everything Will Be There”) by THE SPELLBOUND:
And as if that wasn’t enough, the news about the upcoming Golden Kamuy Season 4 Blu-Ray/DVD has some exciting moments, too!
Hinna, hinna! The hype is up!
Blu-Ray/DVD episode total hints at Golden Kamuy Season 5
On the very day of the fourth season’s debut, namely October 3, 2022, it was revealed that the Golden Kamuy Season 4 Blu-Ray/DVD will feature 13 episodes.
That basically means that — unless Studio Brain’s Base is planning to let down myriads of the series’ fans and condense the numerous remaining manga chapters, which is unlikely — Golden Kamuy Season 4 won’t be the last sequel to the series we will watch on TV! Thus, it’s possible that Golden Kamuy Season 5 will be the final season.
The Golden Kamuy S4 Blu-Ray/DVD will be released in 3 BD volumes and will feature multiple extras, including posters, soundtracks, and additional video material.
The episode count specifies the manga chapters covered by Season 4, as follows:
- Volume 10: Episodes 37-40
- Volume 11: Episodes 41-44
- Volume 12: Episodes 45-49
In case you haven’t read the manga by Satoru Noda — which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine for the entirety of its run (from August 21, 2014, to April 28, 2022) — there are 31 volumes (314 chapters in total). Chapter 314 is conveniently titled “Finale” and we’re hoping the entire manga series will be animated, regardless of the format!
On that note, further announcements may pop up on July 16, 2023 — the date when the next Golden Kamuy Special Event will take place (which was also announced on October 3, a couple of hours before the Season 4 debut!).
We’ll make sure to follow up when new information becomes available, so stay tuned!
Now, back to Golden Kamuy S4 that’s just hours away!

About the Golden Kamuy manga series
Golden Kamuy won the 9th Manga Taishō award (2016), the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize (2018), and the Grand Prize in the comic book category of the 51st Japan Cartoonists Association Awards (2022).
VIZ Media is publishing the official English translation of the series. The English manga was up to Volume 27 as of September 20, 2022.
The plot follows the adventures of Saichi Sugimoto (a.k.a. “Immortal Sugimoto”), a demobilized veteran of the Russo-Japanese War, and Asirpa, a young Ainu hunter who saves Sugimoto from a wild bear. The two form a partnership and set out to find the legendary Ainu gold.
The clash between the Ainu and Japanese cultures makes for an interesting contrast and gives depth to the series.
The story is set in Hokkaido, in the aftermath of the Russo-Japanese War, and depicts many real-life events of the epoch. In addition to fictional characters, Golden Kamuy also features some fictionalized characters of real historical figures, including Shinsengumi’s Hijikata Toshizō and Shinpachi Nagakura.
