A Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni teaser trailer was released, revealing the lead characters for the movie.

Kuni Mizu no Kuni movie is scheduled to premiere in Japan in Spring 2023. The film was announced last month in June 2022 with a key visual and information on the main staff.

The 45-second teaser trailer shows the accidental encounter between Naranbayar and Sarah, two people from enemy nations who should have never met. The trailer also introduces and previews the lead cast. The leads are Kento Kaku (Simba in The Lion King Japanese dub) as Naranbayar and Minami Hamabe (Kiki in Hungry Days: Aoharu ka yo.) as Sarah.

The narrator of the movie is Soma Saito ( “Lord of Crime” William James Moriarty in Moriarty the Patriot), who has been an avid fan of Iwamoto’s work and has also read the original manga.

Main staff

Kotono Watanabe (best known for directing Btooom!) is directing the movie at Madhouse studio. Fumi Tsubota (best known for writing the script of Kirakira☆Precure A La Mode) is in charge of the script. Mitsuki Masuhara (Ace of Diamond) is credited as the animation supervisor. NTV is credited for production coordination and Warner Bros. Japan is distributing the film.

Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni movie is based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Nao Iwamoto. The manga was serialized in Shogakukan’s Flowers magazine from October 2014 to April 2016. Its chapters have been collected into a single tankobon volume which was published by Shogakukan on July 8, 2016.

Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni ranked 33rd in Da Vinci magazine’s Book of the Year list in 2016. It placed first in the 2017 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) rankings in the Female Readers’ category.
