Love All Play info

The Love All Play (ラブオールプレー) anime series is based on the namesake badminton novels by Asami Koseki. Four volumes were published between 2011 and 2014 under Poplar Publishing’s Poplar Bunko Pureful imprint.

A manga adaptation has been serialized online via Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump manga website since April 2022, which coincides with the anime release.

Not to be confused with the Korean TV series depicting a romance in a badminton business team (which also premiered in April 2022), the Japanese animated series focuses on a less romantic plot.

Namely, Ryo Mizushima is offered admission to Yokohama Minato High School, which is famous for its prestigious badminton team.

Like all sports anime, the series focuses on the efforts of the characters involved in building the team, their friendship, and their coming of age. Needless to say, the team members used to be anonymous in junior high school, but are adamant about becoming world’s top athletes.

If it sounds like the Kuroko no Basuke plot, it is because it follows a similar storyline in the beginning. Don’t feat plagiarism, though. From what we’ve seen so far, the Love All Play anime is fun to watch, with likable characters and a solid story progression.

Crunchyroll has licensed the series, so you may well enjoy it!
