According to the Prima Doll anime trailer PV, the Prima Doll release date in Japan is July 8, 2022. The show will air on TOKYO MX and MBS on July 8, BS Asahi on July 10, and AT-X on July 11.
The trailer PV introduces the characters of the series and also previews the Prima Doll OP theme song, Tin Toy Melody, by Chat Noir. The song is written and composed by Jun Maeda and arranged by MANYO.
In addition to the trailer, a key visual featuring the five main characters was also released. (See below.)
Chat Noir is the group of the anime’s five main voice actresses as their characters. These are:
- Azumi Waki as Haizakura
- Tomori Kusunoki as Karasuba
- Miyu Tomita as Gekka
- Yuki Nakashima as Houkiboshi
- Akari Kito as Retzel

Tensho aka Motoki Tanaka, best known for directing The Eden of Grisaia, is directing the anime at Bibury Animation Studio. Toya Okano and KAI are in charge of the scripts. Akane Yano is the chief animation director. She is also designing the characters based on the original designs by Na-Ga, Fuzichoco, Yui Hara, En Morikura, and lack.

The Prima Doll project
Prima Doll is a multimedia project that was announced by Key and Visual Arts in October 2020. The project includes figurines by Kotobukiya, a short story serialization, a web novel, manga, and anime.
The web novel titled Prima Doll Encore is written by Toya Okano and illustrated by Maroyaka. It has been published on the official website since October 2020.
The short stories titled Prima Doll Interlude are written by Kai and illustrated by Maroyaka. It has been published in ASCII Media Works’s Dengeki G’s Magazine since December 2020.
The project will have two manga adaptations:
- Prima Doll New Order, illustrated by Yuriko Asami, will be serialized on the ComicWalker and Nico Nico Seiga websites
- Prima Doll ~Yokoso Kuronekotei e~, illustrated by Daiko Toda, will be serialized on the Comic Bushiroad Web platform
The project centers around cute Robo girls that were made as weapons to be used during the war. Now, that the war has ended they are trying to live a normal life by working at a coffee shop.
