A trailer PV for The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made Season 2 was released, revealing that the anime is set to premiere in January 2023.

The Fruit of Evolution Season 2 has “evolved” a new title, True: Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made (Shin Shinka no Mi: Shiranai Uchi ni Kachigumi Jinsei). The sequel was first announced on April 1, 2022 with a key visual.

The trailer PV depicts Seiichi and Saria engaging in a fierce battle with the new character Destra. The video introduces the main characters and reveals that Miyuki Sawashiro (Kurapika in Hunter x Hunter) is joining the cast as Destra. It also reveals the production staff of the anime.

Cast and staff

The main cast includes:

  • Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu Agatsuma in Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Seiichi Hiiragi
  • Kana Hanazawa (Kanade Tachibana in Angel Beats!) as Saria
  • Tetsu Inaida (Kurogane in Tsubasa Chronicle) as Saria (before her evolution)
  • Miyuki Sawashiro (Kurapika in Hunter x Hunter) as Destra

Shige Fukase is directing the sequel at Studio Hotline. The director of season 1, Yoshiaki Okumura, is now the chief director. Gigaemon Ichikawa is in charge of the series scripts. Iroha Mizuki and Nobuhide Hayashi are designing the characters. Hiroyasu Yano, Arisa Okehazama, and Yūki Saitō are composing the music.

The anime series is based on the light novel of the same name written by Miku and illustrations by U35. The series has been serialized on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō since January 2014. 

The light novels were later acquired by Futabasha and have been published under the Monster Bunko imprint since September 2014. Futabasha’s digital publication Web Comic Action launched a manga adaptation of the series with art by Sorano.
