The Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 anime TV show will have the Misfit Class preparing for the Music Festival, but will the addition of a “new student” throw a monkey wrench into their opportunity to increase their rankings to Rank 4, Daleth? And when will Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 4 come out?

The announcement of the fourth season is likely to be made shortly after the third season ends in March 2023.

Internationally, the TV show has been streaming on Crunchyroll in the past. Starting with the second season, Crunchyroll began directly producing the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun English dub. In Japan, the TV show will premiere on broadcaster NHK Educational (NHK is the producer of the TV show).

The anime is being produced by the Japanese animation studio Bandai Namco Pictures with Japanese broadcaster NHK being the producer.

The main staff for Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 hasn’t been announced yet. The entire main staff for the first season returned for the third season so it’s likely that they will return for the fourth season.

For the first three seasons, director Makoto Moriwaki (Associate Producer for Yuri!! On Ice) was helming the project. Writer Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Girls’ Last Tour anime) was handling the series composition. Composer Akimitsu Honma (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku) created the music. Artist Satohiko Sano (Talentless Nana) was the character designer.

The Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 Season 4 OP (opening) and ED (ending) theme song music hasn’t been announced yet.

The Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 3 OP (opening) theme song music “Girigiri Ride it out” was performed by FANTASTICS from EXILE TRIBE.
The Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 3 ED “Nabe Bugyo” is by Wednesday Campanella.

The first two seasons both had two cours. What’s a “cour,” you might ask? For those unfamiliar with the lingo, a “cour” is a three-month block of TV broadcasting based on the physical seasons usually composed of 10 to 13 episodes.

The first season had 23 episodes that were released in Fall 2019 through Winter 2020. The second season had 21 episodes and came out from Spring 2021 through Summer 2021. The third season also had 21 episodes and ran from Fall 2022 through Winter 2023.

Based on the story pacing of the source material, it’s predicted that Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 will also have two cours once again. It’s also predicted that the fourth season will be longer than 21 episodes.

The third season’s finale, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 3 Episode 21, will release in March 2023.

  • Updated December 10, 2022: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun manga’s English translation announced by Kodansha USA.

This article provides everything that is known about Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 (Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 4) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated over time with news, rumors, and analysis. Meanwhile, let’s delve down into what is known for certain.

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 3 release date predictions: Is Spring 2024 likely?

As of the last update, producer NHK and Studio Bandai Namco Pictures have not officially confirmed the Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 4 release date. Nor has the production of the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 anime sequel been announced.

Once the news is officially confirmed this article will be updated with the relevant information.

In the meantime, it’s possible to speculate about when, or if, the Welcome to Demon School! Season 4 release date will occur in the future.

The anime is likely to be renewed once again since the average review scores have only risen each season. Manga readers enjoyed the Royal One Arc (Evil Iruma was a massive chad) but many feel that the story didn’t hit its stride until the Music Festival Arc, which will be adapted by the fourth season.

In addition to the good reviews, the series is regularly featured in the top 10 of Crunchyroll’s Popular Anime list, with the third season often ranking much higher than notable comedic adventure competitors like To Your Eternity or Golden Kamuy, which was already in its own fourth season. (I’d include Reincarnated as a Sword, The Eminence in Shadow, or Urusei Yatsura in that list but they were HIDIVE exclusives.)

Of course, it was easy to get lost among the crowd in the stacked competition of Fall 2022, which featured big anime like Chainsaw Man, Bleach: TYBW, Mob Psycho 100, and My Hero Academia.

Producer NHK seems to be setting up the series for annual releases. The second season was teased by the first season’s finale, and the second season’s finale episode also teased the third season, and the third season’s finale is predicted to hype up Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun 4. Thus far, the production cycles have been consistently one year or 4 cours.

Assuming that the fourth season is announced in March 2023, it’s predicted that the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 release date will be in April 2024, the Spring 2024 anime season.

Crunchyroll’s Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 English dub release date predictions

Crunchyroll is streaming the new anime episodes with English subtitles as they air on Japanese TV. The Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun English dub for the third season was released on October 29, 2022, which was three weeks after the series premiered on October 8, 2022.

Here is the main English dub cast:

  • Laura Stahl as Iruma
  • Stephen Fu as Asmodeus
  • Kayli Mills as Clara
  • D.C. Douglas as Kalego

The third season introduced several new important characters:

  • Ellie Dritch as Bachiko
  • Kellen Goff as Furfur
  • Kevin M. Connolly as Mr. Hat
  • Courtney Lin as Vepar

The biggest change to the English dub cast is that Billy Kametz was originally the voice of Asmodeus. He was also the English voice of Naofumi in The Rising of the Shield, Shin in the 86 anime, and Josuke in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Sadly, Kametz died from colon cancer at age 35 on June 9, 2022.

Presumably, now that Funimation is being phased out by Sony, Crunchyroll’s Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 English dub release date will be announced in the future after Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 4 has first premiered with Japanese audio and English subtitles.

Hopefully, future English dubbing will be faster once the COVID pandemic winds down and becomes endemic. In order to protect voice actors from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, they were forced to temporarily pause production or take extra safety precautions that resulted in slowed work.

Many English dubbing houses have experienced delays since voice actors often travel to the recording studio. By mid-2022 Crunchyroll began switching from remote recording to in-studio recording again (most of the work is done in their Texas studio).

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun manga compared to the third season

The story for the anime series is based on the Mairimashita! Iruma-kun by writer and illustrator Osamu Nishi (Hotel Helheim).

New chapters are released weekly in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion magazine. When the anime’s third season premiered in October 2022, the manga series was up to Volume 29 and over 265 chapters had been released. Volume 30 (which includes up through Chapter 267) came out on December 8, 2022.

A spin-off series called the Makai no Shuyaku wa Wareware da! (We Are the Main Characters of the Demon World!) manga started serializing in January 2021. As of October 2022, it was up to Volume 11.

The amazing news is that after several years of anime season North American publisher Kodansha USA finally licensed the rights to the official English translation for the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun manga series. But the official English Iruma-kun manga will only be up to Volume 1 by April 18, 2023, and Volume 2 by June 13, 2023, which is far, far behind the events of the anime.

Thankfully, there are unofficial fan-made scanlation projects. Thanks to the popularity of the anime TV series, the raw chapters have all been translated and there are weekly updates.

The anime has received a good response from fans with Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun reviews happily extolling the virtues of both seasons. It does not have much competition since it’s one of the few anime fantasy comedies in recent years that is not also an isekai.

(Or, is it? If you think about it, Iruma was transported to another world, the Netherworld, right from the get-go. Instead of being Truck-kun’ed, he was SulliVAN’ed. Pardon the pun. Ahem.)

Some anime adaptations of manga series attempt to create panel-by-panel episodes that are absolutely faithful to the source material. While the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun anime does make changes, reorder some events, and introduce new visual jokes, even manga purists agree that the additions were welcome.

The best addition so far was when Ameri’s father Henri imagined Iruma and Ameri’s married life with “grandpa Henri” holding a baby that looked just like Lord Sullivan!

One of the best changes is that Purson Soi, the purple-haired guy in the Misfits class, is a background character from the beginning of the anime despite only briefly being shown in the earlier manga chapters. The ultimate wallpaper person (Iruma must be so jealous), Purson continued to show up regularly throughout the first three seasons so spotting him is like a game of “Where’s Purson?”.

The reason this change is important is that Purson eventually receives his own story arc in Chapters 147 through 151. He’s even the cover character for manga Volume 18. Depending on the anime’s pacing, the story arc could be adapted by the end of the third season, but Purson’s arc is more likely to be the first several episodes of Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4.

Rather than resorting to filler content, the anime has also routinely spiced up the story by adding several musical numbers as surprise bonuses. Of course, it’s up to the individual whether having Clara singing is annoying or humorous.

One of the main reasons the anime has been well-received is that the pacing of the first season stayed close to two chapters adapted per episode. The first season ended by adapting Volume 6: Chapter 43 with 23 episodes, which meant that each episode adapted slightly less than 2 chapters.

The second season upped the pacing since the ending corresponded to the first several pages of Volume 11: Chapter 95. That meant 52 episodes were adapted by only 21 episodes.

Since the Special Tutor Training arc and the Harvest Festival arc are 52 chapters combined it’s expected that the third season will maintain the exact same adaptation pacing.

The success of the third season is largely due to the source material wisely keeping the training arc short. Some other series will interminably drag out their respective training arcs without progressing the main plot much (like the Joint Training Arc in My Hero Academia, although the MHA manga did use the training arc to introduce Deku’s new powers in relation to backstory revelations).

All in all, it’s predicted that the third season’s finale, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 3 Episode 21, will find a stopping point corresponding to manga Volume 17: Chapter 146.

It’s the best stopping point since it teases audiences by having serious-mode Sullivan discuss the disappearances of high-ranked demons and the culpability of The Six Fingers only for him to reveal to Barbatos Bachiko that Iruma is a human! The final scene also has Iruma dressing in his winter uniform for the Music Festival.

That would mean Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 Episode 1 would pick up the story again in Volume 18: Chapter 152, which is roughly the halfway point of the second saga. English-only manga readers who wish to read ahead of the anime can go to the fan translation projects.

Better yet, the manga series provides plenty of source material for Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 4 to be a two-cour season again. Since there are 67 chapters (62 if the third season adapts the short Purson Soi Arc) to adapt in the Second Term Saga, it’s possible that the fourth season will be 26 episodes and/or increase the adaptation pacing.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 anime TV spoilers (plot synopsis/summary)

The Misfits Class has its name for a reason. The teachers at Babyls Demon School consider them problem students.

The deal that Professor Naberius Kalego announced was that the class only gets to keep the Royal One if the ENTIRE class has a Demon Ranking of 4 (Daleth) before the end of the Second Term. But what if the Misfit Class never notices the existence of one of its own members?

The class is preparing strategies for increasing everyone to Rank 4 when Professor Kalego shocks everyone by pointing out that Purson Soi is the 13th student in the Misfits Class. The class was shocked at Soi’s existence since his family bloodline magic Anti-Recognition allowed him to effectively disappear into the background of any situation.

In the anime thus far Soi has only shown up when he loses his concentration. Soi’s family actually sent Soi to attend Babylus so he could practice the art of staying hidden in plain sight. It turns out that Soi is actually good at performing music solo with the trumpet, just not as part of a group, but the Music Festival is quite the conundrum for Soi since how can he show off his musical talent without defying his father?

Iruma realizes that they will need to create a performance where everyone but Soi stands on stage. However, the class ends up accepting Kerori’s idea and she creates a “Hell Dance” choreography designed for thirteen people where Iruma plays the piano, Soi the trumpet, and they all perform as Akudols.

(Kerori assures them that crossdressing in drag is not necessary this time since there are indeed male Akudols.)

But how can all 13 students in the class be promoted during the Music Festival when Soi has literally disappeared!? And behind everything is the lurking threat of the Six Fingers who have special designs for Iruma since they plan to bring the demon world back into a state of chaos…

Unfortunately, anime fans will have to wait until the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 release date to watch what happens next. Stay tuned!
